Title: Pets at Home have got a new website - buy online
Post by: Tiggy's Mum on May 03, 2008, 17:38:00 PM
As per the title!  Pets at Home now have an singing, all dancing website and you can now buy stuff online  :wow:

Delivery charges look quite reasonable and it's free if you spend over £50.

Hold you hard...................
Ahh here we are;
http://www.petsathome.com/ (http://www.petsathome.com/)
Have just been on it looking at sensitive tummy biccies, they are totally honest to the point of not selling thier own products well (though they won out on my decision!). full ingredients listings, nutritional adviser, comparision tool....not a bad site at all  ;)

Mind you, when I got the JWB, I also bought a couple of these mice:
http://www.petsathome.com/find/category-is-1+cat/category-is-1k+toys/product-is-18981
and within three hours of giving one to our old boy he had completely destroyed it, more worryingly, the stuffing had come out and as it contained catnip ' essence ' would have been very dangerous had I not spotted it on the floor because two of our cats love to eat catnip.
My hubbie will be taking it back to the store to show them, I had thrown the packaging away so I couldn't contact the company but will do now I can see the toy on the site.

Looks like I am a remote/ rural postcode and would be clobbered with a supplement   :no no:

    * Western Isles HS1 - HS9;
    * Isle of Arran KA27;
    * Isle of Cumbrae KA28;
    * Kirkwall KW15 (not KW1-14);
    * Orkney KW16 - KW17;
    * Gigha PA41;
    * Islay PA42-49;
    * Isle of Jura PA60;
    * Isle of Colonsay PA61;
    * Mull PA62-75;
    * Iona PA76;
    * Tiree PA77;
    * Isle of Coll PA78;
    * Isle of Eigg/Muck PH42;
    * Isle of Rhum PH43;
    * Isle of Canna PH44;
    * Shetland Isles ZE1 - ZE3;
    * Isle of Man IM1 - IM9; and
    * Northern Ireland - BT

I am a little surprised however to note that Northern Island is classed as rural  -  absolutely bizarre

I've just emailed them to ask if the stretch so called safety collars they sell have been approved by RSPCA or Cats Protection League. Just got a bee in my bonnet.

I got the CP newsletter yesterday. It said PAH are starting and funding an adopt-a-cat scheme in conjunction with CP and the RSPCA.

Additional....

I placed an order yesterday but their ordering website has dissapered today, I hope it is a technical glitch and not a scam, I am trying to contact their head office to clarify the situation.

Additional, additional....  ;D

I have just spoken first to their head office and then their petsathome.com office and everything is legit and they have recieved and dispatched my order but are experiencing technical difficulties with the new website and it is currently offline, phew!!!  ;D

Cheers

Leigh

My reply (to my email re elasticated collars) received from PAH. Looks like a result?!!

"These collars have not been passed by the RSPCA or CPL as they don't like to endorse any sort of collar.
The elasticated ones we sell are far better than the ones without any sort of elastic or quick snap fastening (like those recently sold by some supermarket chains).
However, we have recently been informed by independent vets that the quick snap fastening is far safer than the traditional elastic fastening as we will be aiming to move all collars over to the safest form of fastening as soon as possible.
Kind regards
Louise"

About time - about 18 months ago I took the issue up with trading standards. I was passed onto their local office who were having a meeting with them. They said they could advise but not enforce as there were no regulations where pets are concerned whereas if it was for children they could have acted.

I used to get the PAH magazine sent to me which had money off vouchers in, they just sent me an email for 10% off my first order  ;D

Good news about the collars, at least they're moving in the right direction :)
