Just lost my post grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
On anotherthread you were saying you would like another cat show this year so a thought for your comments ;D
How about a cat show with a difference and have one where you send a picture plus a caption a la lolcats ;D

I think a 'lolcat' section would be a good idea but not sure about an entire lolcat show, reason being the aim is obviously to raise as much money as possible for the Purrs rescue fund. If we had 5 or 6 different categories (including a lolcat one) then I think we'd have lots more photos entered and as a result raise much more money.

Sorry , as I said I lost my original post and in that it was said that there would still be different classes, but was thinking on the lines of all of them being lolcats.
Dont you think thats a good idea?

those of us with less grasp on lol-speak may be at a disadvantage ... besides, there are lots of lovely dovley pix of our babes that don't necessarily lend themselves to lol so fewer entries all around. I think on lol class and a few additional ones as well... :wow:

My thoughts exactly, the lol class could be any pic as long as it was LOL captioned. There were still be the 'normal' categories so we would have the best of both worlds and as a result more entries and more £ raised for the rescue fund.

Are classes being split into ped and non ped and then adults and kittens in each one again this year with the misc classes for all? At least this year I should actually have time to get some pics together for it as I didn't manage it last year.

Mind you I dont have Tans approval for any of this yet LOL , just testing the water but have to keep the number of classes down this yearbut would be great to see more entrants and lots more voting :wow:

Ooh, this is well exciting!!!! After Bertie's recent Whiskas-winning appearance in Your Cat magazine, I don't want to break his winning streak so please can we have a Fat & Ginger category? And a blind cat category please for Minxie :rofl: :rofl:

Mary , I dont thinkyou were a member last year when we had the cat show and it took weeks to set it up and 4 of us to work every night between rounds and it was lots of fun but exausting for Purrs staff.
However WE ARE HAVING A CAT SHOW :rofl: :rofl:
Its been approved and there will be 14 Classes this year and I am gonna change the tiltile of this thread and give you some info ;D

Ok here we go, a little pre-info for you but most important for the happy snappers, the classes :rofl:
So here are temporary very draft rules!
1. The Purrs Cat Show 2008 will open on ..........and operate a bit different from last year and there will be much fewer classes for a start
2. This year as many pictures of each cat can be entered in any class that fits the cat. However the cat must have belonged to you or be cared for by you at somepoint in its life.
3. Entry will be £1 per picture per class.
4. Money will this year go to .............................
5. Entry should be on the Cat Show 2008 entry form and money should be sent to ...................
6. Pictures with captions where appropriate should be sent to ................and pictures should be 500 pixels on largest side and no greater than 125kbs, together with your completed entry form. Please do not send midgit pictures cos they have to be big enough for people to be able to see and vote on. If you are unable to resize your pictures please contact me by PM and we will discuss the best way forward.
7. Money, entry forms and pictures must arrive by....................at the latest, to allow time to put them on Purrs ready for voting.
8. The classes for the Purrs Cat Show 2008 will be as follows:
Class 1 Long/Semi longhaired cats of any colour
Class 2 Cats with stripes/spots
Class 3 Sleeping/snoozing cats
Class 4 Shorthaired cats of any colour
Class 5 Lolcats with a caption
Class 6 Cute cats
Class 7 Chatty/Singing/Smiley cats
Class 8 Cats up to tricks/No good
Class 9 Kittens under 6 months
Class 10 Older Gentler Felines over 14 years
Class 11 Me and my friend
Class 12 I am so innocent!/I didnt do it!
Class 13 Boy cats
Class 14 Girl cats
I hope the categories are wide enough for any cat to fit somewhere ;D ;D
Get snapping and write some great lolcat captions......they do not have to be put on the pictures, just sent in with the photo.

You dont need that yet, you just sort your pictures out LOL
Full instructions and the entry form will be put up shortly when all the itty bitty little things have been sorted. The dates and everything will be there.
This is just the advanced notice so peeps have no excuse for not sorting out some pictures ;D

You are very welcome and am sure that you will send some of his pics in. We had a lot of bridge babes in last years show and its up to each individual to decide whether they want to have their cats competing aginst others.
Its all for fun and the voting is fun and it made a whole load of money last year for good cat cause.
You are right it helps us to concentrate on things that are not so sad but in our hearts our Bridge babes are always there and never for gotten.

Ooh, I'm v excited. I don't think I was around when you did this last year Gill (I had a long break with no computer and came back in August), so can I ask a stupid question - can the same cat enter more than one category? (With different pics, I mean).

I agree the classes where much to big last year, you had so much work. If there are no seperate classes for pedigrees i assume they are going in just one of these classes?

not sure how you did it last year, but if you create a thread for each class with voting buttons inserted later once the entries are in, then the computer can do the counting for you :wow: It also reduces the possibility of people voting 50 times for their own cat :evillaugh: :rofl: :rofl:

Hi BC. I think that's how it was done last year allowing three votes per thread I think and we had a number of rounds over a few weeks. It was really good but can well imagine it took the mods lots of time as there were so many categories.

Gill, could this thread be made 'unsticky'? I hardly ever look at the very top as am used to seeing the same threads there. We could make sure it's always bumped up near the top (like Dawn's thread :evillaugh:) and then when pretty much everyone has seen it stick it back at the top?

Sorry Gill - it does make perfect sense but I just didn't absorb it properly the first time I read it - must have been the excitement at the thought of Bertie winning every category :evillaugh:

oh, i think Sophie qualifies for this as she is around 14 - i got her when she was 4 years old -so i was told from CP in Stockport and i have had her 10 years next week !

What about some quirky categories like caught in the act cat and comedy sketch cat eg- sequence of pics with cat in question doing something funny?

No sorrry cc, this year the categories had to be kept to a manageable amount ;D
How ever in the LOLcats category you can have funny or what ever as you can in the other ones cos this year its wide open and almost anything goes :rofl: :rofl: :rofl:

Well the show entries are going great ;D Thanks to everyone who has entered so far. We no have many oldies for class 10 so if ya would like to enter your wonderful senior babes that would be fantastic.
The pics we have are all amazing and all are so gorgeous :Luv: It gonna behard to vote :evillaugh: When the voting starts its the pics we voting for in the said classes and not the actual cat so each and everyone are winners already by entering for the most important bit and thats to help the needy cats in rescue. :thanks: :hug:
Every wonderful cat in the show is a winner in Purrs's eyes ;D

I totally agree Tan - all pics are great in their own special way and it's gonna be hard to vote - I'll be in Italy at the time but I'll use the hotel computer as they are my friends who own the hotel. I'll be voting day and night unless I'm busy with ice cream and grappa!! :naughty: :Luv2: :rofl:
Gonna see if I can sort some photos of my Tibby, she was 26 when she went to the Rainbow - didn't have a digital camera then but I'll see what I can sort from ones I've had scanned - already sent in 7 of a mixture of Tibby, Smudge and Bonnie but what the ech - the more the merrier :Luv2:
