Title: Well its decided - leaving the boys
Post by: Leanne on April 17, 2008, 13:02:10 PM
We're off to Devon tomorrow!  >:(

I'm really not happy about it!   :-[

Katie our sitter has a whole long list of notes and things to look out for, the worrying thing is Milo has been sick and had a couple of runny poos!

Roll on coming home on monday, I just hope Jess will be okay!

Sorry to moan on!

Is Milo in good health apart from this?  If so he maybe has felt your stress and am sure he will be fine

Milo is his usual crazy self, will warn Katie that his been sick though and had a dodgy tummy!

Its more Jess I'm worried about, I'm trying to be calm around him so he doesn't pick up on my stress, I know for sure if we get back and then he blocks again I'm never leaving them alone again!

Oh and to top it of mother in law has flu so I won't be happy if I come back with that!

Ahhhhhhhh now you mention M in L and Jess, I remember the story grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

If she has flu, I would not be going at all!

From Jess point of view, I juist would not be taking the risk with his health

Gill its so hard to know what to do, (touch wood and all that) his been fine for a month now, especally on Zyklene his almost a different cat, so in a way I feel happier leaving him for 3 nights now than I would to leave him for a week, I guess we need to leave him at some point to see what happens when we return (he usually blocks around 2 weeks after being left)

I've spoken to my vets so they are on alert should ANYTHING happen, they know he'll be brought straight in, Katie will be going in twice a day and if she isn't happy with him then she is to take him there ASAP, my mum and dad are also going to go in and check on them!

Much as I don't want to go I know that we need to in a round about way just to see what happens (what my vet said as well). I hate leaving them on any occasion anyway it just feels worse this time round, in a way I just want to go now and get on with it so then we'll be on our way home!

Sorry to go on, most people think I'm mad for not wanting to leave my boys

I would recommend you leave a note with your sitter confirming to the Vet that you are willing to take responsibility for any treatments prescribed during your absence, and giving your contact details. That way if he does take a turn for the worse in your absence your sitter will be able to take him to the vet for treatment ... I am sure he will be fine, but always best to be safe.

Have a wonderful break, with this weather it should be lovely down there ...

An excellent bit of advice here, I think you are doing all you can to ensure there will be no problems already, but a note like this will just back up these good intentions with your vets if required.

Hope you have a lovely time  ;D

Well we're back and thankfully there were no dramas. Katie was as fantastic as ever and text me every time she went in (as did my parents).

I'm just relieved to be back, and now we have to be ultra viligent as this is the time when Jess usually ends up with cystitis/blockages etc!

Blackcat, I always leave a letter confirming everything with the vet, re payments and any treatment needed, also I can be contacted 24/7 I never leave my mobile when I leave the boys   :evillaugh:
