I have just had a call from a lady who has 3 five month old males she wants neutered (fine with that) ... But when i asked about the female mum she said no she wants to breed from her again..
I explained CP policy on preventing kittens and asked her the reason why she want get mum done.. Then she got abit difficult...
What am i to say... ? How can someone have the cheek to ring me... Get mum spayed and we will do all of them.. for free if needed but to tell me she wants to make money from future litters i am lost for words and no sure what to say or do.. I suspect the males may be starting to spray now, but if they were females then she wouldnt be ringing me...
We have a free neutering campaign in May for one of our areas and i am sure this want be the last call i get like this...
Advice pls....
-
is she signing the boys over or selling them?
-
She didnt say and i didnt ask, she just said she had 3 male kittens ready to be neutered!
-
bit of a no win situation I suppose - she doesn't seem that sucessful at selling them anyway if she still got three boys left
-
Say you would be willing to neuter the males for free if the female was as well. If not, then you cannot offer it free of charge, as CP has a responsibility to the care of the cats. You can't force her to, however, 3 neuters is better than none. That will give you an opportunity to try to convince her otherwise?
-
I told her we would do all FOC if she had the mum done as well. But she refused!!
-
This is so terrible, and as Ruth says three neutered is better than none but she is obviously a back street breeder and this is just encouraging her.
I am so pleased I do not have to make the decision here :(
-
You could call her bluff and say all or none and let her sweat a while.
-
One worry is that she may just dump the smelly unneutered toms :(
-
all or nothing. People like this need to face the reality of what they are doing. If she was interested in their welfare she would agree. As she is clearly not, then report to the relevant authorities ...
-
Maybe just gauge her reaction?
She will probably get a better price for them neutered :tired:
Trying to see a good side to her (quite difficult) she is trying to get them done so maybe there is a little spark of humanity there?
-
ummmmmmm what authorities would that be bc!
-
At the end of the day we all have to put the cats interests first and 3 neuters is better than none and also being helpful to these morons is more likely to keep her on side; I would take the vouchers round in person and size up the situation. And no I dont like being held to ransome but sometimes we have to give an inch to gain a yard if you get my meaning.
-
T it's not often you call someone a moron. I love it when you do :evillaugh: Though Sharon maybe it might be advisable not to call the woman a moron to her face :-: :evillaugh:
-
ummmmmmm what authorities would that be bc!
those who shall not be named but begin with an R. I know, a long shot, but it is, after all their statutory responsibility ... :tired:
-
Not sure they can enforce neutering though - unfortunately :tired:
-
I suspect they are sadly not interested, unless there was a houseful of breeding cats in bad conditions.................I do wonder what they do sometimes...........sigh
-
Its suprising what can be achieved with 1 friendly visit :evillaugh:
-
Sharon... take Mark with you :naughty:
-
And /or Pinkbear
-
:scared:
-
I think the lady would be too Mark

i tried to ring her back to get details but she gave me a duff number so thats it really. But i am not going to relent to people like this.. Either we do or nothing or indeed take the little ones in and rehome... i know that not all of you will agree with that stance but some education wouldnt go amiss.. I was going to send her some of or info on mammary cancer in unspayed females and also FIV stuff.
Since we distributed our flyers today in Whitstable i have had 6 calls already.. So thats promising...
Now here is something you dont here that often.. Since December we have had no kittens in our care.. Nope not a thing.. Personally thats a good thing, but one reason is because everyone is still selling them in the papers for 60 quid!! Hence these calls get to me..
