Title: Anyone want a 10k (about 7kg left) bag of Hills C/D Dry food?
Post by: Kittybabe (Ruth) on April 12, 2008, 16:25:19 PM
My sister has a near full bag, maybe about 6-7kg left of Hills C/D Feline Dry. Spenny doesn't eat it anymore as he likes the new diet he's on with RC.

I have it here at home, if anyone would like this please let me know via PM.

Hi Ruth
Is the is a special diet? What is CD?
We have several cats on special diets at the moment, one needing urinary tract food and Charlie our diabetic..

C/D is prescription food, its Urinary food but for Struvite Crystal issues.   Should be something that the vet recommends first though before you try it?  Worth checking and I can ship it over to you.

We have Felice in our care who has to be in a uninary tract diet to stop crystals forming. At the moment i think she is on Hills but we have used a few brands or whatever the vet gives her.. She is on a biscuit diet at the moment... I can check but i think this maybe what she is on at the moment..

So if the offer is still available then yes pls... We can indeed make use of it..

Ruth, i am so glad i read about this, i dont want the food cos i think it should go to rescues but the reason i am glad to know is because poor Flyn(Tom)  was rushed to mayhew few days ago and my neighbour E was told he has struvite crystals  :( they operated on him but the first op didnt work and they had to do second op, so now i can tell E that C/D dry food is part of the diet he needs to go on to and may be you can give some more advise what is best as wet food. He was very poorly and we were concern cos he has heart problem but they told her he is doing fine now. I forgot to mention he was adopted by her at last. ;D

Pav, the only thing to bear in mind with wet food is no fish, the magnesium is thought to make it worse. Might also be worth adding more water to it, and maybe adding a water fountain, as it is hte water intake that is most important, so I can't understand why vets prescribe a prescription dry only.

Thanks Desley i will tell my neighbour cos once a week when she cooks white fish for her self Flyn shares with her so no more fresh or wet food with fish.

I know Millys Mum is great that in the end mayhew agreed for my neighbour to adopt him, every one loves him around here even though he chases our cats and is going to be an issue in summer when our cats want to be out but hopefully they sort some thing out between themselves.
