I know there's been a post on here recently about this but I can't find it so i'll ask again :-[. i'm giving serious consideration to cat-proofing the garden and wonder if anyone had any ideas where I could source the items needed.
My garden is surrounded by a 6ft wooden fence which means that all i'd need to do is fix some form of bracket (?) to the fence and attach the mesh to it. Whats the best thing to use for the mesh?
I'd also have to stop the cats crossing from a sloping roof at the back onto that of our next door neighbours (hes a really unpleasant guy, not bad to cats but the way he treats his wife leaves a lot to be desired >:( but thats beside the point). How can I do this?
Obviously i need to keep prices as low as I can :Crazy:

I am doing this at the moment, or rather will be in the first week of May. I spoke to Roz last night and she was extremely helpful. I had to take some pix of my garden, send her a plan and measurements and she will get back to me. Why don't you email her?

It sounds a good idea I have a 6 ft 6 fence around my Garden an would like some advice on what sort of cost then I could maybe let some of my strays out i would only do the top half if you have the Time please Roz Thanks, :thanks: Ron

Cant help with the sloping roof issue, but your local metal place (not sure what you call them, not as posh as an ironmongers!) could make brackets and a garden centre or zooplus sell netting. IMO netting is better than wire as its not rigid enough for them to climb on.

Does anyone have any photos or a website link to show what this catproofing looks like?
Currently, our three only go in the garden when we are out ourselves and although 'Noosh does jump the fence, she just ambles around our neighbour's gardens and returns when called.
I have thought more recently about 'cat proofing' for peace of mind but then I have visions of some kind of alcatraz looking fence top, which doesn't really appeal!

How I wish we had a bigger garden! With our postage stamp, I think we'd be opening the french doors and bumping our heads on the overhanging bits! :shocked:

Where did you find all those pix? I know Beverley's (Cutees Devon Rex...the one with the hard standing garden) but don't know any of the others. The last one looks a little slack..could do with tightening up a fraction. Also the second one, (taken from above) shows what appears to be a shed but the shed hasn't been cat-proofed! Sheds should always be cat-proofed as well otherwise the cats will scale the shed and hop over the netting. The system works because the cats have to negotiate the netting from underneath...and they cannot do this. I'm gonna have to tick these people off ha ha.
My website has been a long time in the coming :-[ but that is all down to me I'm afraid. We had a really good website from 1996 until I took it offline for updating longer ago than I care to admit and I just haven't got around to posting another one up..mostly because of all the IT probs we had last year. Our domain name was pinched by some Far Eastern company within two weeks of taking it offline (and I thought we'd bought it for life!) but the new website will be just under the Secur-a-cat name. (Our last one was Palaces for Pets which included Securacat but was originally built to showcase our buildings).
If anyone want's to discuss cat-proofing please give me a call anytime. Or pm me and I will send you some information on the system.

P.s. New website is being worked on....but I have to do some fancy graphics first. I have designed the site in my head but now have to put it down on paper...and that means I have to start illustrating which I rarely get the time for much these days....... :tired:

I just googled secur a cat and trawled through the results for ages (I was working nights ;)). The slightly slack one is from the last link, she says she bought the kit a while ago but from the other info posted it looks like it was re-installed at a new house - it's the same garden as the un-cat-proofed shed. They are all definitely secur a cat fencing as each one mentions the name specifically, in all my hours of googling I have not found one single person who has a bad word to say about the secur a cat fencing. Nobody has written about any escapes either although I am a bit worried about Riley - he is sooo athletic and can jump the most amazing heights effortlessly.
