I went to the hospital today for Fabes check up re hypercalceamia.
Calcium levels are now normal and also blood pressure normal
but
Weight has dropped from 4.1 kilos to 3.4 since December and he is badly constipated. They have done an ultrasound and kidney isn't functioning properly and urine full of blood :(
If his bloods are ok tomorrow then he will have an op to get rid of the poo (if the enema doesn't work) and then I'll take him home. He will have to go on renal food and I'll have to give him fluids at home.
If the bloods aren't ok he'll have to stay :( :(
-
Aww, sorry to hear this CS, fingers crossed for him.

His blood levels are still high so they want to keep him in again and have him on a drip until tomorrow when (hopefully) they can flush him out.
I am so annoyed with them though - I asked the guy if he had eaten anything and he said no. When I asked what they had fed him - he said wet renal food >:( I specifically told them last night that he would not eat wet food and to put dry in for him. So my baby hasn't eaten for 24 hours :'(
-
That's awful they should listen to you. Anyway hopefully he will improve and be home with you soon
-
Sending   to you and Fabes. Thinking of you.
-
Don't worry hun, he'll be fine without food as long as he's getting his fluids  to you and Fabes
-
Lots of good wishes for Fabes
-
He's a lot brighter and alert today :)
Hopefully, he'll be de-pooed tomorrow but the vet wants to keep him in until Friday on fluids :'(
She said she'll also teach me how to give fluids at home and I'll actually insert the needle with her first so I know what I'm doing
-
Sending you and Fabes
-
Glad there is an improvement and hope the depooing goes ok.

Glad he's feeling a bit better
Don't worry about giving fluids, its surpisingly easy (after you've done it the first time LOL!) My vet showed me how to do it and then got me to do it on Suzie while he talked me through it. The first time I did it at home was a bit nerve wracking, but Suzie was such a good patient (most of the time!) and I'm sure she knew I was helping her to feel better.

He's now going to have the procedure this afternoon and they want him on fluids overnight seeing has he will be put under.
I'm hoping I can get him tomorrow............... :-[
-
Awww god love him, I hope everything goes okay and he can finally come home   At the least Candice, you know he's in good hands there and I'm sure Andy will be pampering to his every whim :Luv:

-
 Big Hugs for Fabes hope he's better soon!

His creatine levels are now in the normal range but urea just outside so another day on fluids. I may be able to pick him up tomorrow if the urea comes down, it came down 4 points in the last 24 hours and only needs another 2 points to be in normal range.
He's ok in himself though and munching on his renal food :)
-
Aww, fingers crossed for him.
-
Me too
-
He's home :yesss: :yesss: :yesss:
His urea levels are still a point above normal but the vet felt he would be ok coming home seeing as I would be giving him Sub-Qs.
The others have sniffed him like crazy and luckily no hisses. :)
I'm soooo pleased to have him home and he'll be having his first fluid therapy with me a bit later on
