Title: Catnip
Post by: Bow1508 on April 08, 2008, 20:59:22 PM
I keep hearing oh no don't let them have catnip and then oh yes they love it but not too much. Any suggestions? I have some plants which they seem to love so I have to hide them on the window sill in the loo but i have bought dried before for them as a small treat. What do you think?  :thanks:

I don't give it to Jameson too often, as he loves it and goes completely crazy on it. But every now and again if he is bored indoors, I'll rub a little bit on a toy or on the scratching post. He goes mad for about 20 minutes and then exhausted and falls asleep.

Charlie likes it for about 5 mins and then totally ignores it forever

Mine have good quality catnip toys down all the time and in the summer I have giant pot of plants.

They help themselves when they want and thats it.

There is no danger as long as you dont try and take away their fun...........and then you may get a clawed warning

The bestest toys are the green soggy ones and the old mice are loved the most.

I make a sucky sock for Sasa in the summer, just put some fresh leaves of catnip into and old sock and knot the top, keep refilling as it gets soggy and green

Same as Gill. Big plant outside and access to catnip toys at all times - it doesn't hurt them so why withhold it? :)

I have catnip mouses all around the house and every so often I spray one of his non catnipped mouse with it. He loves the stuff but doesn't go OTT. I would get him a plant, but after seeing the state of the normal plants around the house I'd had to see the results on a catnip plant.

LOL have potted a couple of seedlings up and am getting ready to move them into the house (they were in the downstairs loo) so we shall see if they get eaten then.
