Title: Finn is going to the vets today
Post by: Desley (booktigger) on January 09, 2007, 07:52:09 AM
When the lady who was looking after him took him to the vets to check for a chip, the vet told her that he was a neutered male. As you can see from the pic, he looks a rather odd neutered male, and he is smelling, so the poor thing is going up shortly and will see what the vet thinks about this one - she will know instantly who this cat belongs to methinks!! I will also get to find out what age he is as well today.

have you felt them yourself des ?? remember cody looks like he got big marbles but he's not got any

also perhaps for some reason they werent desended when the vet first saw him ?? atleast if a mistake has been made its an easy rectified one.

what were you guesstimating for his age ?

Sometimes when a age is neutered late they still have large balls ! LOL

Oh yep!! Luckily this cat is incredibly good natured, and doesn't mind me squeezing things. It feels hard to me - but I haven't met a lot of neutered tom's so could be wrong.

I wondered that Lynn, but he was only seen late Nov, and he looks to be about 3 to me - but again, the vet is checking that out.

Vet has rang - definitely a testicle (what I forgot on the last post is that his urine smells, so it was quite obvious!!), they are just confirming the price of how much to do the 'invasive' op on the little lad, but it is looking like he wont be done today.

WEll, the other testicle was in his groin, so not too bad an op for the little lad, am picking him up on the way home.

I'm being dense, I think (not unusual ) - has Finn had the op today or will he have it later, Desley?

ah great des, and also sounds highly like he had undesended testes to begin with seeing as this scrotal one was missed a while back and the other one is in the inguinal canal..

mystery solved and solution simple  ;D

Hope everything went OK with Finn, I am having a dense moment too, what did you mean by the vet knowing who he belongs to - do you think the 'finder' is actually the owner??

Lynn - my vet said that there was no chance the obvious testicle wasn't there in Nov with his age. The poor little lad now has a shaved belly, but fortunately only one stitch, and managed to get his collar off overnight!!
Helen, I meant that the last cat my vet spayed for me ended up having a prob that only happens one in every 1000 spays, and then she gets this!!

His stitch is coming out tomorrow, but he is still really thin - 'think' I have finally got all his matts out, and his legs seem really bony, might have to get the vet to weigh him tomorrow. He is wolfing his food so quickly he occasionally brings it back up, which obviously wont help gain weight, so he is having his meals split up now. I will be putting him on the homing page this weekend, but I dont really want him to go just yet, he is still too thin for my liking.

He's up at 5.30 tonight. Since I put his food bowls on the bookcase and gave him his pouches split into three times with a gap in between he hasn't been sick. He is still getting slight matts though, he must have that odd kind of fur that matts easily despite the fact he doesn't go outside = he has been here 2 weeks tomorrow bless him.

WEll, he weighs 3.53kg, so not too thin, but the vet did say he felt on the thin side - we are to give him a bit longer, and if no sign of putting weight on, he might have to be bloodtested as he was an unneutered stray - but the vet doesn't feel he is showing any clinical signs at the moment. We have wormed him again in case that was why, although all his poos are normal, and despite him chewing his food oddly, there is nothing wrong with his teeth.  He has been allowed out of his room for the first time today, but it didn't last long!! When he was in the bathroom, he was fine, I put him in the cat room on Tues, and he started yowling a bit when I left him. Let him out of the room tonight and he has just walked round howling intermittently for an hour, so I have put him back in his room now, and he is quiet!! Dont know what is up with him - he was sat on my bed yowling and Molly was twice as loud as he was, and he just sat there looking at her - I moved him 3 times!!
