I want to put the hoover around. But Jaffa is asleep in the house in his cat tree. I cant start the hoover up just a few feet from where he's sleeping - poor lad would get such a shock. He doesn't like the hoover at the best of times. So they hoover is sitting on the living room floor, waiting for Jaffa to wake up. I'm quite prepared to not do it if there's not time before I go out. Please tell me you all do this too!

Blip, however, is ultra-sensitive to the sound of the hoover being commissioned and always wakes up to glower at it.

It's called 'the cat rule' and has several applications. Not getting up to answer the phone, for example, when the cat is so comfortably asleep on your lap. As for starting the vacuum....... oooh no! That would be the worst of the worst! All of mine hate that machine. I actually once heard of a cat that enjoyed having his fur vacuumed but none of us actually believe that story! So no, you are not 'soft'. You are simply being a considerate slave!

Yes another "normal" person here, I do exactly the same :innocent: Dylan doesn't mind the vacuum he just goes and lies out of the way but poor Hobbes hates it and I can't bear to disturb him if he's asleep and settled. Well any excuse not the vacuum really :rofl:

I am a firm believer in signs. If the cat is asleep, it is clearly a sign that you can not clean the house so will just have to find some nice quiet occupation like reading a book with a good cup of coffee and a slice of cake ;)

haha - you're perfectly normal! My three sometimes occupy the ENTIRE settee, so what do I do? Perch on the edge gingerly so as not to disturb them! :rofl:
The hoover, however, holds no terrors for any of them. Shame - I could do with an excuse not to do the housework - as it is, I can't even sit down!
Shanti actually likes to take the hoover on in a fight! :rofl:
Edit: The obvious solution has just come to me: put the hoover on, Shanti vacates place on settee for a punch up, I sit down! :naughty:

Yep, the beauty sleep of his highness cannot be disturbed. period. (and you can always blame it on him if a visitor takes notion of a crummy carpet :evillaugh: )

I actually like hoovering (my OWN house - before anyone comes with suggestions :sneaky:) .... and have waited ALL day for Mr Lazy to get his arse in gear and go outside/sleep in another room. I just have not got the heart to move him. I just turned around and he's sleeping on his back with his head hanging off the bed, 1 arm stretched out and 1 tooth visible - how could anyone move such a gorgeous sight.

I used to hoover right upto Tiggy's nose and she wasn't fussed but the boys aren't overly keen. When I first got them I avoided hoovering if they were in the room as they were petrified of it to begin with, they're not too bad now. I just start in whatever room they're not in which gives them time to make their way to a 'safe' room. Riley makes me laugh, as soon as the hoover is off he'll come rushing up to it pretending he's a big brave boy :)

Oh dear, I am not very considerate!! I have moved more than one cat off my knee today (admittedly one was at the rescue lady's house and I had to go home!!). Bed making has been put off due to not disturbing cats, but not hoovering - although I only sweep the cat room until they are out of isolation, or I can put them in another room. Yet i hoover up to the door on the landing, so not sure what the difference is really!!

Mine are terrifies and I would not hoover until they are awake and able to ,ake themselves safe..........normal Helen ;D

I believe one of our members does this and posted a video somewhere here. Wasn't it Alex's Poppy? It was hugely funny.
Lexy hides under the bed... I rush the hoovering just so she doesn't get too upset.

I waited until he woke up before hoovering. I don't mind starting it up normally - the pair of them take refuge in the bedroom and hide behind the curtains - but I can't bring myself to do it when he's fast asleep. He was obviously in a deep sleep as Mosi was peering at him through the hole in the top of bed, and there was no reaction, so he didn't hear me get the hoover out.

Although my bed not being made drives me crazy I will not make it if the cats are asleep on it lol

Our basement is our living room and hasn't been vacuumed for ages as Clapton is always in there and it scares the life out of him. If he goes in the garden, I grab the hoover quickly. He is alo scared of brooms etc so they are no go as well :evillaugh:

My old girl also used to loved to be vacuumed.
