Pearl and I competed in the Exotic Shorthair show today, and I must say, the little lass has done me proud yet again! :Luv:
Pearl won her open class (AOC SH) and then scooped a first and three seconds in her side classes. She won the Cottage Cattery trophy, her first ever posh pot, and also recieved a lovely special from the assistant show manager - a RC bucket full of snacks and toys. ;D
The competition in the HP section was extremely tough but very enjoyable nonetheless, and the show was great fun. Lots of people came up to meet Pearl and say how lovely she was (I do get such a kick out of that) and when I thanked the judges for judging her, they all said that she was such a darling little sweetie. :blow kiss:
Have attached a photo of madam in her pen, though it isn't the best as she is somewhat obscured by all her lovely rosettes.

It was a tough show - just about all the best local cats were there including two group winners at the Supreme in what was a very big HP entry. And I have to admit, quite a number of these cats do have the edge over Peal on the show bench, but as long as we're having fun, then hey!
The judges said that it was a very hard job judging at the show and I can well believe them. Still, it is wonderful to see your friends' cats do well and all the wins in all the classes were so deserved.
The one dampener on a great day was the lady who was upset because her cat, who to date had not been beaten in an open class, got placed second. Funny, I thought her cat did really well in a very very hard class and when I said "well done" all I got was a load of moans and groans... It is such a shame really. :Dont know:

Do ya think ya might be tempted by some of the glamorous breeds, Witty? You seem to be very good at showing. And you could volunteer to do the photographs as well. Alan Robinson and Marc Henri were always the well-known cat photographers when I used to look at the show magazines.

Winning is well, the icing on the cake really, though to be truly honest with you guys, the two classes that Pearl won on Saturday, she was the only one in them as the other cat was absent. Still, the judge could have been nasty and only awarded a second prize... :sigh: Her other three classes were really difficult and Pearl still managed to more than hold her own.
I don't want winning to be the be all and end all of showing. The best thing is folk being interested in your cat. ;D
Roz, I do have to admit that I'm a household pet person through and through. That's not to say I don't like pedigree cats - was captivated by the Maine Coons and Burmese at the World of Cats and met some gorgeous Ragdolls at the Supreme but when push comes to shove, I'd still take an honest-to-god mog. :blow kiss:

I did have a nice chat with Alan Robinson on Saturday and I did learn a lot from what he said. Photography is all about a journey to improve and learn - once you stop doing that is the time to jack it in.
