A couple of you will know, I've been trying to trap what was assumed to be a feral cat the last few nights. She'd turned up at a lady's house where I'd rehomed a couple of kittens to a couple of years ago, I think it's a she anyway, haven't been brave enough to look yet :shify: Anyway, I left the trap with her as the main time she saw her was in the morning and with me working today and tomorrow, she would have had to wait until the evening. I phoned her this morning whilst in work and the little darling had just gone in the trap :briggin: The poor little babe is blind in one eye but the eyeball is quite opaque, not the usual blindness so I'm hoping she's not got a tumour or anything behind the eye ball :( She is also full of ticks, I've seen 5 on her without even looking  Sean is back in work on Thursday and I was going to try and hold off taking her in til then but I'll see how she is in herself and take it from there. She ate a full pouch of whiska's whilst in the trap so she was definitely hungry bless her :Luv:

Poor little devil

Am sending a little somethng to help Dawn. Thanks for all you do

Thanks hun  I'll post some piccies later when I've charged my camera batteries up
-
We have taken loads of cats in over the years with an opaque eye, never had one with a tumour or anything sinister behind it though. In fact there are not many times when we don’t have in care at least one with an opaque eye. Fingers crossed for this little girl.
-
What causes the opaque eye Ela? is it something like a catteract?
-
I've had a few blind one's in but I've not seen an eye quite like this one, hopefully it's nothing sinister but it needs to be checked out, and she'll need shaving to see if she's been spayed. She definitely not wild and has let me stroke her but I'm not quite at the trusting stage with her yet, she looks as if she's wants to go at me but hasn't so I'm hoping my hands will remain bite free ;)

I think this one looks to be quite young so I don't think it will be a cataract, maybe a knock from a car or something :shy:
-
I don't know much about eye problems, but at the rescue I've been visiting, there is a cat with 2 opaque eyes, apparently she can still see, just not quite as well as she would with normal eyes, they don't know what caused it though.
-
Could you frontline her to get rid of the ticks?
-

Don't think cataract (well not in the cases we have had) but have no idea what, usually when they come in the eye is already opaque and all the vet thinks is some for of old injury. Of course in a diabetic cat eyes have been known to go opaque.
-
Ahh poor little soul ... so pleased she is now safe
-
Awww, poor wee thing. Hope she settles well tonight now that she's safe with you.
-

I did her earlier with a spot on ;)
-
Piccies will have to wait til tomorrow for this little one, my batteries still aren't charged :tired: She has settled down great though, no hissing/spitting and she has let me give her a chin rub :Luv: :Luv: For now, I'm going to call her Sophie but this will have to change if she's turns out to be a boy as I don't want another Emily on my hands :evillaugh: She's eaten 2 pouches of food and some biccies and although a little frightened, at least she's got a warm bed and won't take too long to settle. I was worried sick about her the last few nights, the weather has been so cold here and the rain has been bloody awful, no life for a kitty outdoors :'( I think the lady was surprised I would actually take Sophie in today with it being Easter  In rescue though Easter is just another day, the same as Christmas Day or is it no rest for the wicked :evillaugh:
-
Fingers crossed Dawn.
-
S/he's lucky to have you! :Luv2:
-
Glad she's got you Dawn
-
Poor little mite, glad she has got you to look out for her Dawn
-
Poor baby
-
I've just discovered this little babe is actually a boy so he needs to have a name change :-[ He is unneutered so will be done when he goes in :tired: He's still eating really well and I think over time, he will become a little snugglebum, he now pushes his head into my hand for a fuss but he wasn't impressed when I had a feel to see what sex he was :evillaugh:

Awhhhh, he looks such a love. Bet he's probably had a very rough time in the past.
-
AWWWW God bless that darling little man :(
All bits crossed nothing nasty is behind his eye and those nasty horrid ticks curl up and fall off. Poor little fella   xxxxxxx
-
Oh Dawn. His eye looks to be a real problem but delighted to hear he is eating well. Hope Sean is able to help this little fella or put your mind at rest that the eye is less of a problem than it looks.
-
Ahhh bless him :Luv2:
-
He looks like a pirate cat. Poor lad with such a poorly eye - hope it can be sorted.
-
I may try and get him in the vets later for a check up, depending on who's on and if he needs an op on his eye, he can be done on Thursday as I've got Amelia in then but I want to cancel her op til she fattens up a little bit. I'm still not convinced it's the normal opaque eye but I can't really tell, hopefully he won't have to have an op on it but I can't at this stage see him getting the full use back in it, again I could be wrong. After I posted the pics last night, he rolled over for a tummy tickle and was licking my hand, a definite softie in the making me thinks :Luv: :Luv:
-
ooh poor little kitty, 1 of our ferals has an opaque eye but not as bad as that, he is identical to that cat, best of luck for him
-
Poor little fella. At least he will get the love and care he deserves now. Good luck at the vets.
-
I was going to take this little one in last night but didn't get back til late, I've phoned the vets today and he'll be going in in the morning to be neutered and if he needs his eye sorting, they'll do it at the same time. He is a little fuss pot once he relaxes with you and I'm sure he'll make someone the perfect furbabe once he learns to trust properly :Luv: :Luv:
-
Awwwwww bless his little face :Luv:
I think you should call him Pirate like JS says - or Pickle :sneaky: orrrr Pickle Pirate ;)
Lots of love coming his way from three black cats (Doc says fancy not knowing a black boy-cat when you sees one :sneaky: ) xxxxxx
-
I had a phone call off Pam earlier asking how he was and she said the morning after she trapped him, another little black one appeared the same size as this little fella meowing like mad, and it's been there everyday since :( I just hope he hasn't got a friend that's been left behind :tired: She said the other one will rub round her legs so I've asked her to have a quick feel if she can :shify: and then to let me know ;)
I'm not sure what name to pick for him yet, I'm still thinking on it as it has to be something I'll remember :um:
-
This gorgeous little lad has to have his eye removed :( I had a phone call off Sean whilst I was on my way home and he said the eye ball is ruptured and he also has Glaucoma in that eye, I'm hoping he'll let me keep him in the surgery for a few days as I hate taking the packing out
-
AWWWWW Bless him :'( :'( -
The good thing is at least he is getting treatment now.
how about Bruno ? - I know it means brown but it's near enough to his beautiful black coat Eh. I feel real sad now - loads of love and hugs to this little fella  xxxxxxxxxx
-
Poor lad - he's still a handsome so and so, though. Sending Captain lots of fuss. (As in Cap'n Jack Sparrow - sorry I had to give him a name in my head!)
-
Awww bless his wee paws, he's gorgeous :Luv2:
Sending him lots of love and gentle cuddles
As for a name .... I like Captain as JS suggested :)
-
Just caught up with this - what a handsome boy.
It may be my ignorance Dawn (and probably is), but do all eye removals need packing? I know I have now seen two at Paws Inn and neither of them had packing? The eye was just removed and stitched up. Does it just depend on the vet? I would have thought it would also be really uncomfortable for the cat too.
Wishing this little guy lots of luck. I am sure he will feel much better when it is all over.
-
Trevor the other vet did an eye op for me a while ago, he didn't use packing but Sean and the other vets I've dealt with do, I'm not sure what the reasoning behind it is, unless it's to keep the shape. The packing has to be pulled out bit by bit each day, I really haven't got the stomach for it and I worry about hurting them, Sean said this little one can stay in for a few days and they'll remove it :shy:
-
My mum's dog had her eye removed last week, and there was no packing with that either thank god (I know who would have got that job!!).
-
The modern way is to pack using a gel which is absorbed by the animal: packing as such which needs removal is done for one of two reasons:
1-the eye has been left untreated for too long and damage/infection behind the eye is severe.
2- the vet is very old fashioned.
Regards to point one this in no way suggests this boy has been neglected by his current carer. The damage was done while he was living out.
-
Bless his little heart. :Luv2:
I'm so hoping he isn't too uncomfy and that it all heals up well
-

I think it's more than likely he was a stray, he was in such a mess bless him and covered in ticks   Regards to packing the eye, I would say the other surgery I use is old fashioned, Sean did his first eye op there which was on Morris and every eye op he does, he puts packing in.
This little guy is fine anyway, Sean said the op went well but he's an older cat and he said ideally one his teeth wants removing but because of everything he's been through today, he didn't want to leave him open to infection so the tooth will probably have to be done at a later date.
-
I've been to see this little guy this evening and he's fine :Luv: Sean said he was really good when they removed some of the packing, hopefully he come home early next week but I know he'll be safe in Sean's care over the weekend :Luv: Heidi the vet nurse has decided to call him Bob which I quite like for him really, so Bob it is :)
-
Bob? Well, I guess it'll be easier for him to learn than Captain. (Which of course, he'll still be called in my head. I'm quite stubborn!)
Glad he's doing well, he looks a great little character.
-
I do like the name Bob, I lost my gorgeous little Bob and it will be nice to have another cat named in his honour :Luv: :Luv:
-
Good to hear that Bob is doing well, bless him.
-
Glad Captain Bob :evillaugh: (blame JS) is doing well
Sending him lots of love and gentle cuddles

He's not home yet, they wanted to keep him in til this evening so I'll be picking him up shortly with Becky and Phoebe, just hope I have enough room in my car :evillaugh:
-
Lots of tummy tickles for all three of them, from me :Luv2: :Luv2: :Luv2:
-
Bob still has more packing to come out of his eye so I have to pick him up tomorrow now :tired: He did roll over for tummy tickles though so he seems quite happy :Luv2: :Luv2:
-
Is he home, Dawn?
-
Nope :sneaky: Sean pulled a little more packing out whilst I was there this evening and there's still some left. Hopefully tomorrow will be the last day in there for him, if not, he will definitely be coming home Friday :wish: I had a few minutes with him earlier anyway and he is fine, he's so well behaved in there bless him :Luv: :Luv:
-
This little man is still in the vets :tired: Sean said there was still a little packing in there and hopefully tomorrow he will come home  The good thing is he isn't stressed in there but I'm hoping they give him a reduced rate for his length of stay as he's now been in a week
-
Little Bob can come home, I'm going to pick him up shortly :na na naa na: :)
-
Awwww, give him a tummy tickle from me later :Luv:
-
And from me too :Luv2:
-
Ahh bless him ... sending a big tummy tickle from me and lots of kitty kisses from the gang.
Get well soon little fella xxxx
-
Is the gorgeous boy home now? :Luv2:
Sending him lots of love and gentle cuddles xx :Luv2:
-
I have to say Bob is one of the most gorgeous loving cats I have come across :Luv: :Luv: He really is a sweetheart and extremely loving, I really can't believe someone had allowed him to get into the state he was in >:( >:( >:( He is sooooo tiny as well, I don't think there's much difference between him and Emily and Emily is minute for his age. He's coped brilliantly with the surgery and I've had no hissing or spitting, he absolutely adores having tummy tickles but these have to be limited as he does get rather excited and exposes himself :-[ I will get some more piccies of him and keep you posted :Luv2: :Luv2:
-
Hurrah, welcome home "Captain" Bob. :)

-
Are you having this effect on men alot lately? :naughty: :naughty: :naughty:
-
I don't know what you're talking about :slap:
-
How's little Bob doing today Dawn?
-
Little Bob is just fine :Luv: :Luv: He has been no trouble whatsoever and has got his paws firmly under the table :evillaugh: He's one of those cats that just melts your heart and I still can't get over how diddy he is  I will try and take some more piccies of him later :Luv:
