.... was just thinking he's been very quiet (I assume busy).
-
Funnily enough, I dropped Ron a line a couple of days ago for the same reason, Sam. He replied telling me that he has 36 cats in at present and his main helper has left so he is up to his eyes with work and cant see the light at the end of the tunnel.
I did wonder if anyone in the Brighton area could spare some time to help Ron out, but it seems a bit cheeky for me to ask when I am nowhere near Brighton myself.
-
Poor Ron, I do hope he finds a new helper soon. It is amazing how busy rescues are this early in the year, it doesn't seem as though we are going to have a better year than last year.
-

....We also know if you were anywhere near Brighton you would be there in a shot....I dont think it would be cheeky C, maybe a request in the rescue and re-homing sect would help him out and all those lovely puds! ;D
-
I will do that, Bazsmum. I just re-checked Rons note to me and he has 38 cats, not 36
-
Thanks for the update ... Poor Ron being left in the lurch like that. I agree putting out a plea for a helper isn't cheeky ... that's what we are all here for - to help each other out and of course to help the kitties.
-
I have posted an appeal at http://www.purrsinourhearts.co.uk/index.php/topic,13312.msg227612.html#msg227612
Anyone in the Brighton area who could spare some time to help Ron, please get in touch with him: details at www.lostcatsbrighton.org.uk And of course, if you live around there and would like to adopt a cat from Ron, I am sure he would be overjoyed to hear from you.
:thanks:
-
With 38 cats, I'm sure he could do with some extra food etc. - It's a lot for one person to cope with in all ways.
I will have a word with PB and see what we can do.
-
Yeah its not really boot sale weather either and I remember him getting in extra monies via doing them! :scared:
-
I don't suppose he would even have time if the weather was good :(
-
My car's a bit dodgy at the moment and I don't want to risk the journey. Hopefully, it will be replaced in a month or so and then I'll organise a run down there.
I had no idea Ron was in the lurch again. I thought he had a new chap supporting him, but obviously it didn't last... :(
-
I will go with you this time. Happy to use my car if you want to go sooner. We can hopefully sort out some food for him.
-
I am sure if I had a word with our committee we could spare a few boxes of food to give him.... Although not local we may be able to help in other ways... But it would depend on transport to Brighton i suppose.
-
Mark seem's willing to use his car..... ;D
-
Well, if Mark's prepared to use his car, I will come along to do the humping. :evillaugh: I've got some food here he could have as well. ;) It would have to be either a Wednesday, Thursday or a Friday.
Edited to say, the reason I don't want to use my car is that it's slowly rusting to death and I don't think a journey that far is wise. :(
-
:scared: Dennis may have something to say about that! :evillaugh:
You are all fabulous for getting this help together! :Luv: :Luv: :Luv:
-
I have already spoken to Dennis - we are going into Canterbury today. Planning on going to PAH on the way back so hopefully they will have their dry food BOGOF and we will buy a few bags - it's good quality so if we can get 2 x 2kg bags for £7 will be good.
I also have a few 1/4 & 1/2 used bags that I'm sure some of his waifs will be glad of (although apparently not good enough for my lot :tired: ).
Julie, Thursday or Friday would be good for me as busy with vet runs etc tomorrow. If you can't do this week, any day next week is fine with me. Just let me know.
-
Just a thought that if anyone wanted to donate, I wonder if it could go in a paypal account or something and then Julie & I could maybe do another shop before we go?
Maybe someone could arrange a little appeal?
Just bearing in mind 50p can feed a cat for a day at least so anything would help.
I think the Boxes Sharon is talking about contain 100 pouches :evillaugh:
-
Tan may be able to set up a food fund, Mark, but I do know that you can donate to Lost Cats Brighton via Paypal at http://www.lostcatsbrighton.org.uk/html/donations.html
-

I have some of those Mark but never counted them. ;D

It's a shame the timing wasn't better as PAH sale ends tomorrow.
At the moment, they are selling 5kg bags of Hill's £27.99 BOGOF and 4kg premium own brand £15 BOGOF
-
Just wondering if Ron buys direct from Royal Canin because 10kg is only £30 to rescues which works out cheaper so maybe Ron could make things go further if he received monetary donations instead. Just a thought :)
-
That's really good - not much more than the Hill's sale price. I think PB is phoning him tomorrow to find out if/when we can go. It looks like Julie, Sharon & me will be going together. Hopefully Julie will see this and can ask Ron about RC rescue prices. If he hasn't got an account yet, maybe he can get one going forward.

I'm only guessing - haven't counted them either :evillaugh:
Some of them are go-cat pouches which I have never seem in the shops.

I HAVE had to count them. They are supposed to be 100 but they are usually a couple short. :tired:

Thanks to the Canterbury Crusaders :wow: we can get some much-needed supplies down to Ron next week. Purrs has therefore set up a special appeal. Anyone who wants to help can donate to the paypal Purrs account - purrs@purrsinourhearts.co.uk - and between us all we shall get the supplies to Ron.
I will find out from Tan how people without a Paypal account can donate to this appeal too.
Every donation, small or large, will go directly to helping one of the (nearly 40 ) needy cats in Lost Cats Brightons care.
:thanks:
-
I get paid on the 31st so will send a donation via paypal then - two days and counting :evillaugh: Do you think it might be an idea to amend the title of this thread temporarily with an appeal title?
-
I sent my donation ... it's not alot but every little helps :)
-
Like Helen I get paid Monday so will send mine then too.
-
I will chip in but don't use Paypal
-
I've just phoned Ron and I am going to see him on Monday after work. I can't adopt another cat at the moment but am hoping that I will be able to volunteer in some capacity (I live in Brighton.)
-
Harna, you are a star! :Luv:
-
:thanks: It's the least I can do - I'm not sure if I will be able to help out as muchas I would like as I am currently working part-time with an hour's 'gap' between finishing work and collecting my daughter from school - but I will go up and see. But I am prepared to just muck in if needed . . . or attempt some fundraising if possible . . . .whatever they need I will see what I can do . . . .
When we adopted Alfie & Wilf recently, my lovely neighbour came along to help reassure the cats in the car on the long drive home. She has since declared that she has space in her heart and her home for a pair of cats and so I quickly pointed her in the direction of the local rescue centres, one of which was Ron's. I think she saw a couple that she was interested in - I will nudge her today! Hopefully free up a pen or two soon . . . . ;D
-
Good on you for offering to help out, I am sure Ron will be appreciative of anything you can do. And fingers crossed for your friend too.
-
I should think Ron will be over the moon, Harna. I am sure that anything you can do will be a real help to him. Well done for volunteering
-
Could someone give me Ron's contact number?
I could donate some food and drop it off, as i only live 8 miles from Brighton. ;D
-
HI Tracy
Ron's rescue Lostcats info is here :Luv: http://www.lostcatsbrighton.org.uk/
Thanks for all who can help. We would like to collect as much as possible to get supplies for Ron and the needy cats. So if ya can spare some food or help in the Brighton area or a donation to our Losts Cats Brighton aid fund however small to help us buy some supplies for the cats that would be fantastic. See below how to donate.
 :Luv:
-
We're pretty far away (St Helens) but I donated via PayPal, every little bit helps!
-
will someone please tell me where the Purrs donate button is for this appeal please
-
I think people must be using the donations button on Rons site T...............its very little letters so hear is the link ;D I havent seen any other link put up.
Sorry got thios all wrong all donations should be done through Purrs. The link has been put up above.
Please do not donate direct to Ron as he has requested it be co-ordinated within Purrs by Tan
-
Perhaps I am confused but I thought Purrs was having a quick whip round to take some much needed supplies to him.?
-
Christine posted this so that when Mark and co visit they can take down some much needed supplies with the dosh donated directly to Purrs.

We are T. You can send the donation direct via Paypal to purrs@purrsinourhearts.co.uk Tan is co-ordinating that side.
-
Ruth - that paypal address is different to the one Christine posted - one is 'your' other is 'our' hearts... Remember the kerfuffle we had last time with the wrong purrs paypal address :evillaugh: Whose is right?!
-
:evillaugh:
I shall correct. it's OURs..
purrs@purrsinourhearts.co.uk
thanks H. Thank goodness someone is reading this with eagle eyes. :evillaugh:
-
Ruth Now I am in trouble cos I just donated to first addy you posted, help
-
Oh no T!!!! Oh dear. Well it might not work because there is no email addy like that, but just in case.... PM me how much you donated and I'll pop that back in your account and pop the same in for Ron. Sorry sorry sorry.
-
What addy did you use T?
I am sure if its the wrong one, paypal will just tell you it doesnt exist
-
Payment has been accepted Ruth and its gone to Tan so should be ok as I did send message to Ron. Thankyou for the help.
-
Ok that's good T. Phwew!!
-
If I remember rightly when this happened before it 'appears' that the money has gone but in reality it is left in limbo as Tan does not have a paypal account set up with that email address so it can't be claimed. If that's the case there must be a way to cancel the transaction (last time Tan added that email address to the paypal account but can't do that this time as she doesn't have an email add that ends in purrsinyourheart).
-
Worst case I'll contact PayPal, money has to be somewhere so they have to return it.
I'll sort out T's donation to the fund if its lost.
-
So how does T get the money back to her paypal account to start again, without it costing her money?
I reckon best bet is to write to Paypal and tell em the problem?
-
Ok. T will NOT lose out on this either way. If the funds are lost.. I will pay it back to T. Sorted.
-
I guess its me who is the techno idiot, have copied part of paypal email sent
to purrs@purrsinyourhearts.co.uk has been initiated. This payment will be completed once the recipient has accepted the payment.
It may take a few moments for this transaction to appear in the Recent Activity list on your Account Overview.
Has it gone to right place or Limbo?
Sorry Peeps
-
T if you want i'll pop in and have a look for you. Don't worry. One way or another your donation will go through.
-
Has it gone to right place or Limbo?
Limbo I'm afraid as Tan cannot accept the payment as she doesn't have that email addy. I'm sure it's fairly simple to get it back - will have a nose around in paypal...
-
That will definately not go thro to that email address but do not know how Paypal deal with it.
it may say something in their help.
-
Don't worry Peeps, I'm on it.
So just a reminder to everyone: and yes this is right.
Our paypal donation account for this appeal is: purrs@purrsinourhearts.co.uk
Please reference the donation as LostCatsBrighton or the like so we know which one is which.
-
T's donation is fixed, I cancelled it and resent. xx
-
Thanks Ruth, I have received paypal emails to show correction.
I am just thick with computers , lucky I spotted Helens post though
-
T hun no probs the money will only be taken from you if the receiver email you send is a valid one so they accept the money. That won't happen cause there is no purrsinyourhearts email domain so noone to accept the money. Therefore it will always remain unclaimed and not go out. You can cancel any unclaimed payments by doing this in your paypal account
Click the My Account tab
Click the History subtab
Find the payment to purrs in your hearts transaction
Click Cancel in the Action column of the transaction in question
Click Cancel Payment
You have successfully cancelled the payment
Any collections for Ron are going through Purrs so i can buy and arrange direct delivery to Ron's address of the cat food etc so Ron doesn't have to go out shoppin which can be difficult for him :)
PLease contact us beforehand of you would prefer to donate directly to Ron so we know who is donating. :thanks:
-
Thanks Ruth and T got it
-
Just like to say the Ron is "the salt of the earth" and works tirelessly in his rescue, he deserves all the help we can give him; when your busy caring for so many cats you cant get out to do fundraising or shopping. When you do Rescue its amazing just how many people know where you are when they have a problem or a cat to dump on you, its not so often that people offer a donation,Rescue is full of stress in caring for cats and keeping them healthy and worrying where the money to pay the next vet bill or food delivery is coming from. By donating we can at least relieve the wonderful Ron of a little worry.
-
That's a wonderful statement, Teresa and so very true.
-
I had donated directly to Ron's charity, didn't think of sending it to you for him.
-
Payday has arrived - donation sent!
-
I have sent you a little something for Lost Cats Brighton today, Tan :shy:
-
Thanks so much to everyone who donated to help Ron out a bit.
We have raised Just over £150 in a few days and i am transfering it over to Ron's account on Monday to help out with his vet bills.
   :thanks:
