Hi i read on Vicky Halls (cat behaviourist) web site somewhere that she was planning in doing a tv show like the dog whisperer but for felines ;D
Anyone know when this will be aired? Love to watch it ;D

No idea Tan but can't wait to see it when it does come on TV :)

Now that is a programme they could recruit for on here :wow:

what are you saying about our cats, Christine - they are all neurotic??!!

Wrong end of the stick moment (or irony failure from me :innocent: if so, upbraid me, BC ;)). I reckon that there are one or two people on here who communicate rather well with cats :wow:

How interesting that programme would be. Picture it - cat sat on chair refusing to do anything at all and Cat Whisperer sat looking at cat for half an hour ;)
I love Dog Borstal - anyone else watch that ?
-
irony failure Chris, it has been a long weekend. But at least next one is going to be an official long-weekend!!! :wow:
-
irony failure Chris,

If you will excuse me, I shall just go and misunderstand Blip now ;)
And OH too, at this rate :tired: :evillaugh:

I like the trainers, especially the guy takes no nonsense ( not the rotund chap ), I love his attitude in training the owners.
I know exactly what you mean tho but at least these owners do learn something.
I can't watch the majority of television because it makes me shout at the screen.

Thats "Mick"
He's "the man" on dog borstal. As in, He's great in what he does. And even though he comes across as a tough guy, There are moments when he's is so proud of someone for working so hard and passing.
Anyone watch the dog whisperer as well?

That's the guy.
No, but I watch ' It's Me or The Dog ', and I'm a straight girl and so actually watch it for the behaviourist angle ;)

Me or the dog is very good and dog borstal isn't bad, though we only get to see the modified behaviour in the foreign environment of the school rather than in the home. Of course you have to give Dog Whisperer a mention too, if you've ever seen Cesar with his own pack of dogs it's pretty impressive, he really goes back to the roots of a wolf pack to work his behaviour techniques and they're incredibly effective.
I work in film and always wanted to think up some kind of Cat Whisperer format, retraining cats is rarely as interesting to watch as retraining dogs though so I don't know if it would go to TV, same as you don't see cat shows on TV but Crufts is massive.

I'm iwth you Steve, the 'dog pack' approach definitely works for me and Shadow, and does not involve as much in the way of choke chains and other corrective measures. If you can train an animal in tune to its social needs rather than your social needs you end up with a happier animal. I used a similar method with my horse and it worked there too.

The Supreme (or was it the National?) cat show used to be on telly and it was just as good as Crufts - think its a shame they stopped filming it. OK you don't get the agility shows etc, but there used to be loads of good info on there, grooming demos, new products for cats etc. Not to mention people would get to see lots of different breeds that they wouldnt normally see.
I'd be very interested in a cat whisperer show on tv - and if its Vicky Halls she's bound to make it interesting.

Maybe there is hope then! I hope so. The cat shelter that Vicky mentions mentions at the start of her first book is actually the one I run a website for now; the books are totally un-put-down-able
