Title: Felice - Luckily blood tested today
Post by: Mark on March 13, 2008, 14:16:42 PM
I picked Felice up this morning to take her for 2nd jabs. Sharn who is fostering her said she is drinking a bowl of water every day so after speaking to Sharon, we had her blood & urine tested while I waited. Her kidneys are fine. There is a slight chance she has mild diabetes as her blood glucose is raised. They tested her urine and it turned out she has a lower urinary tract infection. She is on painkillers and antibiotics now. :ahh: - she has to go back in 10 days.

She is hard to photograph as she won't come out of the pen. I had to take pics at the vets. I will have to take some more when she is feeling a bit better (and her ears are up  :-: )  :Luv2:

The vet said it is probably stress related so Sharon is trying her best to get her to an indoor fosterer.

That was lucky Mark.  How cute does she look scowling with her ears back

Well if Sharn hadn't noticed her water intake, we never would have known she had an infection and she would have been in pain until it was unbearable for her.

As Sharn also runs a commercial cattery and dealing with quite a few, it was good she noticed  ;D - Hopefully her painkillers have kicked in and she is a bit happier. The annoying thing is, they gave me her meds and I asked if she had been given a painkiller to get her going - she said "No, would you like a nurse to give her one now?"
I said - Yes please (I wanted to say "of course you dopey  :censored: "  :evillaugh: )

She has gone for a check up and dental today. She isn't happy in a pen but a space has come up with an indoor fosterer so will take her there when I collect her from the vet tonight. She isn't vocal but trembles with fear  :'( - She was trying to sleep on the way to the vet but I think it was more a case of trying to shut everything out rather than being relaxed  :( - I really hope she perks up at Roxanne's house.

Anyone know if her mouth will be sore after a descale?

I am taking some spare Whiskas supermeat pouches to Roxanne as I thought it might be easier for her to manage?

If she has only having a descale I wouldn't imagine her mouth would be sore, mine isn't!  Good luck to her and hope she is happier in foster care.

IT depends on each cat - Rolo had 11 teeth out and wolfed 2 pouches at the vets, and didn't need any painkillers at all.

Poor Felice. She has more antibiotics as her infection hasn't cleared up. The vet gave me a litter kit so she doesn't have the stress of going back. She is still trembling and very depressed. Roxanne said she will get plenty of TLC. Her niece (I assume) said she will visit every day and try to cheer her up  :Luv2:
