Title: Air Fresheners and Cats
Post by: Corporal Smokey on March 08, 2008, 15:45:01 PM
I was thinking of getting an air freshener for the living room but I know the perfume ones cat be a little strong/bad for cats. Can anyone recommend one or a brand that are good for freshening up without upsetting the monsters?

I have found any of the plug in ones affect two of mine and the vets have said this is common with the plug in ones.   Poppy especially gets nasal disacharge form them.

So far I have used spray in air ones when no fur babies are around and no problems with any as of yet.

I was watching a well known brand advertise this morning and said to OH, if we had any three frangrances in this house , it would be cat pee, cat poo and cat vomit.  :evillaugh:

I have to be careful anyway as I'm allergic to everything. I use a spray when the cats are asleep upstairs but wondered about a continuous one.

I've seen some in the local hippy health shop thats a bottle of watery stuff with wooden wick things sticking out. Maybe something like that would be ok as long as it's away from Corporal Octopaws

CS I love my incense but because of how Poppy is with plug in continuous ones I have to be careful and if it wasn't for my cats I'd burn incense every day but I find with the occasional stick burnt Poppy is fine but if there is any sensitivity I'd stick to the occasional spray you are doing already.

It's not incense, that makes my asthma wappy for some reason. I also find that incense smells a bit "samey" like the way Pringles all taste the same.

I used to use Ambi Pur plug ins and now I use Yankee Candle plug ins - no probs with either.  Was once watching an animal programme and it said Fabreeze wasn't good for pets.

Lidl sell their own ones - not many flavours available. I don't care as I only ever buy plain snack.

It's actually not too bad. I've got one of those Omega Paw litter trays. It's huge and well covered. If I'm honest it's more because I don't have a kitchen bin so there's always a carrier bag hanging on the door. It's changed daily and there's never any meat/cat waste in there but it's not really ideal. We keep meaning to buy a bin but those nice ones are ridiculously expensive!
