We picked up black and white, Charlie 2 days ago after he was reported to us as being a stray that no one had claimed. Suspected that the elderly person in the house he sat ouside was feeding him. That person died late Feb and Charlie has been hanging seeking food and shelter since.
Charlile turns out to be a senior puss with a whole host of health problems, suspected diabetes and maybe kidney problems as well. He is at the vets, where they will do a further lot of tests later to see if his condition has improved from yesterday.
Charlie isnt very well, so all the positive vibes you can muster for this poor little man.. Unfortunately, we have no where to put Charlie at the moment anyhows, but the best place for him is the vets. How he survived outside in the cold with un reliable food supply and no vet care is kind of amazing and we hope that with fluids etc he may improve.
But my gut feeling is that we got to hear about him just too late, but at least we are trying our best.
He remains a affectionate soul.
We are not doing well with poorly cats at the moment..!

That made me cry. God bless you Charlie you can have every positive vibe in my body to get you well. A big hug to you from my Charlie too.
-
Awww, I hope Charlie has found his way to warmth and care in time, sending lots of positive vibes over
-
Lets hope they can help him. If he survived against the odds, there has to be a chance for him with good food, a warm bed and treatment :)

Just had an update. Bloods are no different but he seems a lovely puss so will be on insulin over the weekend. with a update on Monday. Vet thinks we should try this option first as he is a very laid back puss, his condition may be controllable via diet rather then insulin.
However we are all very cautious here as our last diabetic cat Cleo didnt do at all well in a rescue situation (we had to move her a few times due to fosterers being away and we couldnt put her in a pen). We only managed to keep her going for a few months before she just gave up and went downhill really fast.
Anyhow lets hope that Charlie turns out to be a real figher and has alot more left in him yet!
But its not easy finding homes for diabetic cats!
-
Fingers crossed

My best wishes for Charlie... perhaps his health had deteriorated when he was left alone after this old guy died. Finding the love and TLC anew, I am sure he will bounce back, and I so hope!! Hang in there Chuckie baby!!

Any news on the lovely boy?
-
Sorry no news as yet on Charlie although i did get a short email from the vets to say he had a good weekend.. ! With luck this puss problems can be sorted via diet and not injections.. But we still dont have a clue where he can go (i.e what fosterer is free)! ..
When i do know more i will putting a plea out for Charlie as from our last encounter with diabetic cats, they dont do well in rescue situations and the sooner we get this mite into a loving home the better...Unforunately, pretty soon we are going (no doubt) be in kitten season again and Charlie will get left on the shelf (so to speak)....
Thanks for your thoughts though

Charilie is coming home to our fosterers today, after being on insulin all weekend he has stablised. He will be on injections for a week then re test bloods next week to see if we can try to treat his condition diet wise.
Poor Caroline our lovely fosterers now had Ticco (who has terminal cancer)
Old body Teddy (just lost all his teeth)
now Charlie
Plus her own cats, 2 dogs and a family.

I bumped into Caroline in the vets - It's about the 3rd time we have bumped into each other there :evillaugh: She was picking up diabetic food for Charlie - The VN said it is the most palatable (I beg to differ) - I am going over there late morning tomorrow after taking Felice to the vet so will post pics when I get back ;D
