Title: And our cats favourite wet food is.........
Post by: Gwen on March 01, 2008, 17:34:23 PM
Asdas own Tiger chunks in jelly :-:

I have never seen their bowls so clean,on a tight budget and thaught I'd buy some just for a couple of weeks but judging by yesterday and todays bowls they seem to love the stuff,I gather tiger would be same nutritional valuewise as felix and whiskas as its only 4% meat :shify:

Blip loves Gourmet Pearl Country Style but - and this may be useful for others - following a suggestion from Lottie, I am serving her (Blip, not Lottie  ;) ) Natures Menu mixed with a couple of tablespoons of warmed water to make a gravy.  Blip loves it and the meat content is high.

The girls seem to enjoy HiLife more, Zi can be fussy with NM, they also enjoy the new Tesco lamb food, but I struggle to get to Tesco, so that is a once a week treat. The fosters love Bozita, so might treat them to some over EAster. I have bought some Aldi food for the fosters today, it has a higher meat content than Whiskas, all 3 are temperamental with food though, Rolo has a dicky bum, and the other two are sick on certain foods.

Yes BC, main diet here is Felix as Good as.

Sorry CS, just seen that you mainly been posting on Cat Health section coz of Foofoo's ear prob. Our Tom is pretty deaf now but he is much older than Foofoo. Hope it's not causing too many probs for Foofoo and you.

Well the favourite is probably applaws/almo nature, but really anything goes down the hatch pretty quickly.  It depends on what mood they're in too.  Some days Jaffa will take his time over nature's menu then others he'll wolf it down like it's the best thing ever.  Cosma is very popular too.

I've just given them some raw organic lamb mince and Jaffa inhaled his rather than ate it.  He'd just had his tea too  ;D

Hi Life Essentials Chicken flavour. Oh my lord, Jameson is climbing legs and furniture as soon as I open the pouch. I can't even fill the bowl until he's finished it all and wants more.
He is not keen on Hi Life tuna though - funny little guy.
I will keep buying these pouches as the meat content is very high (50%) and in Asda you get 12 pouches for something like £2.88. I tried them out by buying individual pouches (4 for £1).
I intend to try other wet foods too, like Natures Menue, Applaws and...something else I forgotten the name of.

I was 'away' for a while, had quite a mad few months at work amongst other things.  Fabes has also been back and to to the specialist but thankfully he is now stable and is on 6 weekly appointments :innocent:

Foofoo is finally showing signs of hearing and I'll be Auntie to my first foster kitty next week - so things are looking up! :)

Whatever is dished up is a favourite, but at the moment he seems to really be enjoying NM Beef and Heart flavour .. normally it's anything thats fishy which gets devoured in seconds.

Jamesonmum - mine are the opposite, the tuna goes down better htan the Chicken. They had it on offer just before X MAs at £2.50 a box, so I have quite a few boxes left!! Even at full price, I think it is quite a good price, as long as you have a second food, I wouldnt like to eat the same flavour every meal!!

Katie gets Sheba Beef and Heart trays as a treat, or HiLife chicken and turkey pate which she loves!

Every other wet food i've tried her on (even Nature's Menu), she picks at. All the jelly or gravy gets licked off and the chunks get left to go all brown and icky! I sometimes wonder if someone does just pouches of jelly as i'm sure that would be her fave! She loves tuna and fresh salmon, but doesn't like fish flavoured biscuits or food???!!!!

It would be whiskas/kitekat pouches but they very rarely get it  :evillaugh:  so natures menu chicken and turkey or applaws style chickeny tins :cook:

Desley, yes you are right - and I'm in the process of finding a few other flavours for his wet food. Went in to our local petshop to have a snoop around but it seemed very expensive in there. And I'm not a fan of petshops either so wouldn't buy there unless emergency.
I'm going to the PAH near us to see what deals they have on right now too.

Yesterday I was in M&S and their wetfood pouches had quite a high meat content (48% I think). Anyone bought them?

Susanne has mentioned M & S food, I dont go near one. I dont think PAH is really that good for everyday food, I only go for offers on wet and dry. Although the first one I Went to was fab, the other two stores haven't been.

I've bought the small cans in M&S - luxury poultry selection - which have 50%+ meat, but I've not tried the pouches.

1) Raw, made to the "with bones" recipe on this page: http://www.catinfo.org/makingcatfood.htm

2) Berties Nature's Harvest wet cat food (90% fresh chicken)

Do you mean PAH only does their own brand, or do you mean they don't really have good deals there? I have only been there once, a week after adopting Jameson and really had no clue what I was looking for (ended up buying Bob Martin flea spot on - as effective as a chocolate teapot I learned the hard way! itch itch scratch scratch!)
Do you know if Sainsburys or Asda do other good quality food worth trying, apart from Hi Life? I shop at those 2 places on a regular basis.

Sorry, meant apart from the first store, I haven't really got much from there, except my NM as my Tesco has stopped stocking it, and I get the cat milk from there when it is on offer. I can get JWB cheaper through a local garden centre. I buy Perfect Fit and HiLife from Asda, and sometimes their Senior (Molly needs high fibre food, so gets Perfect Fit and Asda Tiger Senior a few times a week - I like to vary it with high meat content food).

choccie is a very bad word!  It is banned here on Purrs to help those of us on diets, and to make us feel better if we eat it - can't feel bad about eating chocolate now can you?!

Can't argue with that! I love healthyfood. Mmmmm chocolate. chocolate...CHOCOLATE!!!

Dang - the last chocolate was supposed to be in CAPITALS! So... not only can't you type ''chocolate'' but you can't type it in capitals either!!
