Well, it's started and I have picked up the first two kittens of the season for me, approximately five days old and handed into the PDSA after "being found by a dog in someone's garden".
Both seem quite bright and in good condition, no fleas and quite stocky little things, a little black and white boy and a black girl (why do I always get black and whites and blacks, lol).
I picked them up last night, so my first sleepless night of many but they were good and fed quite well. They are in the Intensive care/Incubator and it is lovely and warm for them and it is great that it just stays a lovely comfy constant temperature. I am talking to our electrical wholesaler today to get an inverter so that I can plug it into the car when I'm travelling to and from work with them but it only lost a little temperature on the way in this morning.
So the first of the names from the auction have been used. I am afraid I have been a bit selective on these and gone for Kali (Helen's choice) and Cornelius (Milly's Mum's choice), mainly because there is a chance they were born on the day Kay Cee passed away so they have been sort of named in her honour (well the names start with the same letters).
I know I always say it, but will try to post some piccies later, just going to feed them now.

Awww good luck with them. Have they had a good check round the garden to see if there's any more kittens? I hate it when the odd kitten is found just in case others are left there but maybe mum got startled and dropped them whilst moving them :( I hope they'll be okay anyway and can't wait for piccies
-
Thats the same thing that happened to Mango. Mum and brothers and sisters were found, it was only the next day that little Mango (originally called Mrs Doyle for some reason!) was found on the floor, where she had fallen out of the makeshift nest :(
From then she was hand reared by a nice foster lady.
Looking forward to pics of these two Lesley ;D

Wonderful names and they go together so well. I hope this brother & sister can stay together.
-
It would have been nice if the intensive care unit had never needed to be used but seeing as it has - welcome to the world Kali and Cornelius :) I'm sure Kay Cee sent these little ones to you Lesley
-
Welcome K n C :Luv:
-
Hoping so much that Kali and Cornelius make good progress and grow fit and strong.
Really wishing you the best with them, Lesley. Have been thinking of you since Kay Cee went to the Bridge and hoping you were ok.xxxxxx

To be honest, it's one of those stories that both the PDSA and I have taken with a pinch of salt. They are really healthy looking and do not look like they have been outside for anytime, we both think it more of a story of someone who had kittens who could not cope. The PDSA have my number and I have told them they are welcome to give it to the person who bought the kittens in, so if any more are found hopefully they will let me know.

The pictures aren't very good, it's not easy taking piccies of little kittens but the black and white one is Cornelius and the black one Kali.

Great that the unit is in use but cant see the pics cos they are too small and wont enlarge :(
Love the names and am sure that unit will be such a great things for the needy kittens ;D

I told you I was useless with piccies Gill, will try and get some better ones later on.
Both Kali and Cornelius are doing well, put on 30g and 20g respectively in the first 24 hours. Cornelius has today opened his eyes and hisses a little baby kitten hiss to any shadow that moves near him, he is so sweet. Kali is thinking about opening her eyes, but one at a time. Scooby and Lottie, two of my terriers, have decided they are mum and dad and spend every available opportunity on guard outside the incubator watching every move. If Lottie could produce milk I am sure she would feed them but probably also lick them red raw with enthusiasm, lol.

So pleased they aredoing well ;D
-
fabulous news that they continue to do well Lesley, hope you too are feeling a little better!!
-
Thats great news. and aren't they so adoreable ;D

While I'm on a roll with piccies, here are the latest of Cornelius and Kali, now proper little kittens.

Cornelius is the top black and white, although he is now developing a grey stripe down his back and looks a bit like a badger and Kali, who started off black, has now developed into a sort of chocolate.
Cornelius is very outgoing, never stays still and is quite large whereas Kali is a slower developer than him, much quieter and for a long time had a very grumpy face, but now she is coming out of her shell she does not look quite so grumpy. Cornelius has always been so wide eyed he has always looked in a constant state of shock. :Luv2:

Just adoreable and well done :Luv: :Luv: :Luv:

Aw, they are so cute! If you're around this week, I could drop that cage off for you and indulge in a bit of kitten cuddling! You must have your hands full with these 2 and now your 2 new little ones as well as the rest of your troop!

What beautiful special babies.

If you can wait til Sunday, I need to have a huge tidy up at home, otherwise you'll be reporting me to the RSPCA.  During the week I'm at work (we run our own business) and all the babes come with me, Cornelius and Kali in a carrier and then into a kitten crate and the tabbies (I am going to look at my list in a minute and give them names) in the Intensive care unit. My car packed up about a month ago so I now have a van cos it's so much easier with all the stuff to carry so if you see a white van driving around with Hello Kitty paraphernalia in the front and a "Rescue Cats in transit" sign in the back window - that's me!! :evillaugh:
-
I'll look out for your van when I'm driving around - I have a slightly odd looking car, its silver and looks like a vw golf at the back and like a vw bora from the front! Soon it should have my fledgling companies name in the rear windscreen soon courtesy of my OH, who is getting the people who do his companies coach livery to make me a big sticker!
I wouldn't dream of reporting you to the RSPCA - honest, but I know what you mean about preferring to tidy up before people come round, I'm up in Northampton for the day on Sunday for a car show (first time we will have left the girls all day so slightly nervous) but I'm around every evening next week.
-
We'll arrange an evening next week then, barring any disasters in the meantime.
I wanted to have the Eight Lives Left Kitten Rescue put on the van but have to have Company name on instead :( but with all the Hello kitty stuff in it at least I know it will never get used by any of our workers
-
Sounds good to me, OH is on late shifts, so I'll be rattling round the house doing odd jobs, trying not to fall over cats and working on my website!
-
They're both gorgeous Lesley, a real credit to you. Funny how you described Kali's personality as that's exactly how Lucas aka Kali was when he was little, much smaller than Riley and much quieter - no grumpy face though :evillaugh:
-
OMG how big are those babies now ;D ;D ;D,
They are real little superstars :Luv: :Luv:xxxx

Now I've learnt to do photos properly (about time I know) I have re-done the initial ones of these two at the beginning of the thread so you should be able to see them now.
-
Pictures are great and love K and C ;D
Oh yes the list, which names will you pick ;D
-
Oh, those kittens are adorable! :) :Luv:
