Title: New PetPlan insurance
Post by: Desley (booktigger) on February 23, 2008, 21:42:51 PM
Just been on their website and noticed their 'SuperCAt policy' which is unlimited per year. Might be worth looking into, I can't get a quote as they dont take on new cats over the age of 8, but would be interesting for someone who already has insurance to do a comparison.

Not just older cats. Frank's FIV and I've never found one that would insure him, also we're not sure how old he is but recon it's between 5 and 10 years. A big scope!

There are a lot of companies who insure older FIV+ cats - Clare has her 10yo FIV+ puss insured with AXA.
Sorry Gill, forgot to add that, here you go http://www.petplan.co.uk/therightcover/cat.asp

Ah right - have just never heard it mentioned when we discuss insurance - how can unlimited per year work though? That price is more than a 17yo would cost me to insure!!

Hi Des,

Hope you are well. I've come in on the tail end of this so may have got the wrong end of the stick. I am not sure what you mean by

 My quote for this cover is £32.16 a month for a single cat 16 months old and it has a £90 excess. But I guess it's because I live in central London with many roads accidents, though they do not take into account that she is an indoor cat in a very secure enviroment and has no chance of escaping.

I pay £15 a month with Sainsburys for £6500 per condition over the life of the policy and a £50 excess. On renewal I will probably swap to AXA with £7000 cover per year for £17 per month, I really can't see vets bills being more than this and it's almost half the price of Petplan

You might also want to look into petplan's Cat policy.  It's not on their website for some reason, but they do offer a policy that gives £6000 cover per year.  I was offered that when I rang up to take out a budget policy for Mosi 2 years ago.

Yep thats it, theres no limit at all you just pay your excess.

Thats probably because its ridiculously expensive   6-7k of cover is plenty for most people!
