Minnie has done the weirdest thing twice in the last two days. She'll go outside to play, then come in, seeming perfectly happy, and go upstairs to the bedroom. Then I'll suddenly hear her hissing and growling as if something is threatening her - but both times, Bertie and Bella were downstairs with me, and the only window in the bedroom is a skylight so nothing outside can be bothering her. Both times, I've rushed upstairs and just found her sitting normally on the bed like nothing has happened. I'm puzzled! :shify:

Do you have a mirror up there? Or maybe there is an insect that bothers her?

Maybe you have birds landing on the rooflight, or flying overhead - is it mainly in daylight she does it?
Or maybe you got a ghosteee :shify:

There's two full-length mirrors - ooh, could be that - she's also blind in one eye so perhaps she's even less equipped than most cats to recognise her own reflection!!

I've been having to look under the bed every night after I saw something horrible on facebook, saying that if you didn't pass it, on this person would come and get you or steal your soul or something ........ proper freaked me out :shy:

It could easily be the mirrors, maybe she thinks there's another cat up there when she catches a glimpse?

Sounds stupid but you never know - have to checked the floor/carpets to see if there is anything sticking out that she keeps catching herself on!

Not stupid at all - with a half-blind cat I do have to be very careful about making sure there aren't any potential Minnie-hazards in the house! Haven't seen anything though ...

Ah a half blind cat - right that says everything to me, our family dog Pepper was pretty much 90% blind and she would often growl at nothing - it was the shadows she could see or thought she could see - general spooking I bet is all it is.

This brings up to my memory one episode which never was explained. There was a period when I shared a house with a house mate and his doberman Razor. One night when I was alone at home with Razor, being a huge lapdog he was he was resting on top of me in a lazyboy chair while I watched the telly. Then he suddenly sprung up, stared at the other settee and started growling fiercely. He was a big baby and in spite of being a doberman he was not at all a sort to act aggressive for no particular reason, and as I said there was no one else at home and obviously no one or nothing on the settee. He kept on for about half a minute, then stopped, curled up and went back to sleep. His sight was perfectly normal for a dog, and no one could ever figure out what was the matter.
This happened only once, but as I hear animals can sense spirits and stuff much more keenly than humans and such, it really spooks me to this day!! :shify:

Max will sit staring at one particular point on our lounge, not doing anything at all, just sitting staring at it ......... if you call him he ignores you, and just keeps staring.

When I was a child, my parents had two cats who would regularly both stare at the exact same thing - except that there was nothing there - and then both follow the "thing" across the room with their eyes at the same time - very, very odd and spooky - we used to say they were looking at the "misty people" :shify:
