Title: Abandoned! Silkie seeks a new forever-home AND LILY TOO!
Post by: Corporal Smokey on February 19, 2008, 19:09:59 PM
This is Silkie. Her owners moved out and left her behind. She was rescued after being heard meowing in the locked property for a week. She is now in the safe care of CP and is looking for a new home. She had kittens who have all found homes so it's her turn for a bit of luck. She is a quiet, loving cat who's around four years old.

Sorry, I cropped the picture in Paint and didn't save it properly because I'm not very bright.

What a beauty - I hope she's found a loving home very soon.

It never ceases to amaze me that people can simply move house and leave an animal behind. I know that circumstances may change but I  cannot fathom a) not wanting a pet anymore and b) making no provision for it; just locking it up inside the house. It's appalling.

Aww, the poor baby. It is bad enough not taking your pets with you, but to leave them in teh property rather than find a rescue place isn't good.

Silkie is lovely - she looks quite timid. Do you think it's a result of being left alone in a property? One of our cats as a kitten was left in a house her then owner was supposed to be moving into in one of the rooms. She was literally only checked on once a day - on one of the days I said I'd go with the girl. When we got there, the gas and electric had run out and all that was in the room for the cat was two bowls and a litter tray. The house was freezing.

I offered to look after Little Cat while she sorted herself out and she agreed. After visiting twice (both times after she'd gone Little Cat peed in our wicker baskets - she'd never done it before and hasn't done it since) she never asked for her back - so we never offered! Her loss, LC is ace! :Luv:

Awww Little Cat  :Luv: what a cute name!

TBH I don't know anything other than what I put down. I got the photo and description via email but I believe she's in foster care rather than at the shelter as there's a different contact number. I think "shy and affectionate" were their words. Either way I'm sure she'd make the perfect pet in a quieter home but she doesn't look like the type who'd enjoy the company of noisy kids.

She looks like a dignified lady to me  :Luv2: !

Hehe - Little Cat is her pet name. :) We called her that when we were "just looking after her" because we didn't like the name that her owner had chosen and we didn't want to get attached.

Silkie looks as though she probably has a similiar temperament to Little Cat. I think she's adorable - if only we'd got more money, she'd probably be the ideal candidate for a playmate. (We have three other cats, none of which really do interactive play.)

Well my second lovely tortie abandoned cat in a week! So here's Lily. She absolutely gorgeous and I think she may be an Exotic cross as she has a sort of "open face" (although you can't really see it in the picture).

She was also left behind and an airbrick had to be removed before she could be rescued  >:( . By the way sorry if I put the airbrick bit for Silkie anywhere, I got the two stories a little mixed up (I refer to my original post-I'm not very clever). You can forgive my error this time though, how horrible is it that two wonderful cats have the same sad story?

So we have two lovely tortie furbabes looking for two homes where they won't get left again! Here's Lily  :Luv:

She really is a stunner Gillian. I'm sure she's more moggy than anything but there's something a little unique about her. She has a semi-long coat and a fluffy tail too  :Luv:

Corporal Smokey  . . . . how is Lily with other cats? We'd really be interested in knowing some more about her . . . . . . . . . . .

TBH I have no idea. I can find out though. She is quite petite so I don't think she'd get on too well with a bruiser but if she has a cheeky persian/exotic temperament (she was very confident when I went to see her on Saturday) then she'll probably be fine. Like I said I'm not going to definately advertise her as anything other than mog but I have my suspicions!

Whereabouts are you again?

Well, Anoosh certainly can't be described as a bruiser!  :innocent: In fact, she is the most bizarre cat I have ever encountered; she strolls up to cats she has never met before as if she has always known them - not a territorial bone in her body - the RSPCA was astounded. Mahla was the same. Whoever had owned these little cats before they were found by the RSPCA inspectors had obviously socialised them brilliantly when they were kittens. . . .

We are in Brighton. . . . but are travelling to Burton on Trent (not a million miles from you, I think) the weekend of March 8th . . . . .

Still working on Husband who is dreaming of a ginger Persian . . . . . will let you know.   ;)
