Title: MY JESSICA
Post by: Ela on February 14, 2008, 10:04:08 AM
I know how you are feeling and wish your little one well. When I got up this morning at about 7.30 a little later than normal my Jessica was lying on the landing looking quite peaceful, but somehow I knew all was not well. I picked her up and tried to stand her up and she just fell down again, I then took her downstairs and as I placed her on the kitchen floor she made the most frightening noises and was thrashing around all over ( I have over the years seen many cats have fits but nothing like this)  I phoned my vet immediately (fortunately I have his mobile and home number for such emergencies) and he said to meet him at the surgery. She is now in the hospital and I am waiting for further news

I have just got back from the vets, I phoned about 4p.m.  and Eric went to check on her again and  was concerned that Jessica was in distress I asked him if he thought  she had a stroke as well as the fit and he agreed that she had. I then asked  if he thought her time had come and he said yes, so we went straight away as she was gently PTS. I have had cats previously who have had fits and also strokes but somehow I knew this time that Jessica would not win the battle.

What makes it even worse is that it is a year tomorrow that we had to let our boy Badger (dog) go.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I remember your posts about Jessica and the troubles she had - other people would've given up, but you let her time come naturally.

I hope Badger is looking after her well, I'm sure they'll be happy to see each other.

RIP Jessica.

I still have one more Gypsy a long term CP cat, she too is 17.

I now only have one of my own cats Jeannie and  some of you may know she had a stroke last year and is now blind and also on daily blood Pressure tabs, Felimazole  & Fortekor but she is a happy little soul and while ever she has a quality life she has a right to life.

Thank you all for your messages, although they bring a tear to the eyes they are appreciated.

I've only just seen this Ela and am very sorry indeed to hear such sad news.  all i can offer is  and to say if it were not for your care and dedication plus the perseverence she'd not have made it as far as she did.  I'm honestly heart felt sorry for you but she is at peace now and hopefully in time you'll be able to enjoy many happy fond memories of the time you spent together but meantime you'll find it hard having the pillow all to your self.

rip Jessica, you will be greatly missed  :Luv:

Thank you, but that is in my dreams lynn. funnily enough Teddy a long term foster cat who can be seen on our sponsor page started to get on the pillow as well a short time ago and last night she stayed there all night purring near my head. During the day I don't really see her as she is so timid.

The house seems so quiet and empty as where ever I was so was my Jessica plying for my attention.

All my life I have loved all my cats and had someone ever said you can only have one I could not have chosen, but my Jessica was very special and losing her has made the loss of  our  boy Badger seem like it happened very recently,  although it is exactly 1 year ago  Still I have to think that they are now at Rainbow bridge together.

I don't think a year is that long ago. It doesn't feel long since we lost Parsley and we lost her at the beginning of February last year.

They are all special, and I do think each loss reminds you of the others you've had to endure - I hope you and your family are coping OK with your loss.
