so, so sad, for the people as well as the animals - losing your home and your best friend all in one fell swoop ... :( Some will have been irresponsible owners. Others are people for whom life has proven too much - it must break their hearts ... :(

I think it is happening over here.
Animals are being dumped all over the place - and not always for serious reasons as losing a home.

I think its always happened here to a degree although not to this extent. That said we may well see a rise in the number of cases being discovered as people can no longer afford their high mortgages. We've had 2 calls alone in the last couple of weeks for people wanting us to take their cats as they are 'homeless' now.
Its a really sad state of affairs for everyone including the animals. Only time will tell I suppose really.

i think we will see a rise in the number of cats coming in due to housing issues, but I hope our housing market doesn't become as bad as the US
