Title: Batten the hatches - we're in for a busy year!
Post by: Angiew on February 09, 2008, 14:02:33 PM
Had a plea for help from CP yesterday and we have taken in two female (unspayed) cats today (well, we picked up one , the other was out).

They belong to a lady who is being evicted on monday and has 2 rotties as well as 6 cats (of which mum cat was the start ) and she is going to be living in a caravan behind a pub. Quite sad really, she was crying when we took the cat and the cat is obviously well cared for but we weren't allowed inside the house (judging from the pong we weren't upset!).

Both females have been in season about 2 weeks ago so they'll be rushed down the vet ASAP.
CP are castrating the other 4 and dealing with.

Anyway, CP are already full and said they have a mum and 7 kitts and a mum and 4 kitts to pick up next week. :(

That was my thought before I got to your post. The phone has just not stopped ringing with requests to bring in cats, it just gets worse and worse and the sad thing is we are being asked to bring in so many older cats (14+) . I do wish more people would consider adopting a 'golden oldie', instead of wanting a kitten or young cat because they think it will live longer.

Fingers crossed for them Angie - we seem to be getting more enquiries about taking people's cats in than rehoming cats, which is never good. We have had our first pregnant cat for about 3 weeks now, she is due anytime, bless her. She's not a mega young cat fortunately, but I wouldnt' say much more than 18 months.
