Well the little fella is home again now minus bits and has gained a fan club of vet nurses who thought he was incredibly laid back and lovely. His bloods were mostly ok, urea raised but they said normal as had not eaten but his white blood cell count is high (range states 5.00 to 18.9 and his is 23.2. This is worrying me now.
-
So glad he is home safely hun.
Regarding blood results I am sur esomeone else can advise you but wouldn't the vet have said something to you if they thought there was something wrong.
-
Well as he is being tested for feline leukemia, FIV and FIP and I have to wait a week for the results think the vet might have reserved judgement
-
Did they give you any idea what raised white blood cell count indicated? When Alice was tested the other week hers were too and they said it indicated possibly parasites but her tests for those came back negative.

No but he is being treated for ear mites and an ear infection and I am hoping it is this. Feel a bit sick though
-
its a very marginal elevation so i really wouldnt be worrying too much
-
Well I spoke to the vet who said they would have discussed it with me had they had concerns. They said that the stress of having the bloods done often raises the white cells also the fact that he has an ear infection and is being treated for mites would raise it. He said it is only a slight rise. He also said that if it was leukemia the white blood cells would be lowered
-
I am sure Charlie is just fine and once the mites and infection are gone he will have no problems
-
Thats good news then hun
-
Sounds good, I am sure he will be okay!! Lots of  and headbutts for you and the lovely Charlie :)
-
FLV isn't like human leukemia, where we have a really high white blood cell count. A slightly raised count is normal in infection, such as the ear infection. Sounds like there's nothing to worry about.
Have you decided to keep him then? ;D
-
I think he has decided to keep me Hippykitty and I have not put up too much protest. It was just he came so soon after Dragan and I had all the mxed feelings but I do think Dragan guided him and after all he is a little cat who was so desperate for a loving home so yes, if he wants to, he is here to stay (though whether he will change his mind after vet visits, ear drops, castration, etc)

Glad to hear all your news Maddiesmum. sounds like you too are well-settled with each other ...
-
Awwwwww..... pleased he's got a fab home with you now
I think it was fate :shy:
-
Great news! I love it when a plan comes together! :Luv:

Aww, as it is such a minor rise, I am sure it is just due to his ear infection - infections are one of the biggest causes of high blood counts.
