Title: In memory of Mr Thomas
Post by: Polly on February 08, 2008, 11:30:16 AM
This isn't really a poem, just something I wrote whilst I was away that I would often read to myself.

It's just it's 1 yr on the 16th Feb. since I lost my special little man.

Thomas, you're still my world even though we are physically apart.
The day I lost you my whole life went upside down, caved in.
It broke my heart, it'll never recover the cracks will always remain so deep.

You brought so much happiness into my life.
We met over a garden wall.
The sun was shining on an old shabby settee in the backyard of a derolite house next door.
You were fast asleep basking in the sun.
I instantly fell in love with you.
You had such a beautiful face with big green eyes that shone a look of wisdom.
My beautiful long-haired tabby Thomas, with a belly the colour of porridge all curly and warm.  How I miss kissing that lovely warm belly.

I'll miss your hugs, no-one hugs like you Thomas.
You'd wrap your beautiful tiger paws around my neck, I'd feel your purring vibrating against my cheek.

Before we began our life together you were known by the neighbours as 'Dangerous Brian' because of your antics with the local cats.
You slept in a neighbours coal-shed.

We then began our life together.
You made every house a home.
You made me laugh, you even made me cry and I along with everyone that met you adored you.
We'd made an unspoken pact.  Together we were a duo, we came as a pair.
Two years later Pretty Polly became part of our family, we were a unit, a trio.

I loved you like a child, a best friend, a soul mate.
Over the years we moved homes together, you were there through all my ups and downs.
We lost our Nan, who I knew you also loved and grieved for.
You vetoed Stephen, finally giving your approval.  we were a family of four.

I'll always regret going away and leaving you, always.
The pain when I think that I wasn't with you cuts so deep.
You and Polly were always in our thoughts with your pictures beside our bed.

I miss you so much.  I'll do anything to have one day, one hour, one last kiss and cuddle with my beautiful, beautiful boy.

I hope you know how much I will always love you.
It wasn't supposed to end like this.
Thank-you my beautiful little man for choosing to spend your life with me.
My beautiful Mr Thomas who i'll love til eternity.

Forever yours

Mum xxxxx

I had a star named after him last year called Mr Thomas.

Thanks for the comments.

It's a year today and I feel numb.  I keep thinking of his final hours and that I wasn't there to comfort him.  Life just isn't the same without my special little man.  I miss him so much.
