After a call a few days ago about a stray and possible pregnant cat we managed to get puss to the vets.. Turns out she is an elderly female puss that is in a bad way... Although friendly she has a bad bite wound on her side, is very messy and thin, But worryingly vets suspect something more sinister to her condition and maybe tumours in her tummy.. She is due to be xrayed tomorrow and bloods taken. Positive vibes for this wee one that has been named Ticco, she is grey and very friendly and affectionate despite her ordeal..
Lets hope that outlook isnt so bad as first expected... But we will do what we can and she seems to be perky still and eats well...
Will update when know more...
-
Aww, fingers crossed for her.
-
I'm very worried about poor Ticco. :scared: It really gets to me when the oldies are found straying with serious health problems. I try not to think that they've been dumped because their owners knew what was going to happen, but its a bit of a coincidence. :'(
Keep fighting, Ticco! :blow kiss:
-
I hate that too PB
-
Lots of good wishes for Ticco
-
Ah bless her. Bless you too for caring for her in her twilight years. I so hope she will be all right. Good luck Ticco you have people who care about you
-
Sending lots of luck and best wishes for Ticco :Luv:
-
Lots of good thoughts and purrs on the way for Ticco from us :Luv2:
-
Not good news. Ticco bloods point to liver tumour..results were off the scale.. Will talk in depth about her case tomorrow but it looks as though we can give Ticco a few weeks or whatever of hospice care before things reach a conclusion.
-
Oh bless her, at least she can go to the bridge with a full belly and knowing people cared for her
-
Aw how sad.....Ditto what MM has said.....
-
Aww, the poor little one. At least she has been picked up and can have love and warmth, and go peacefully with dignity, rather than being left on the streets. I hope she gets a decent amount of time.
-
So sad but she will know some love and warmth
-
Ahhh lbess her. Big hugs to Ticco and everyone involved with her care and welfare
-
Blast why is it that some little mites never have any luck in their lives. Good luck Ticco I hope you have many months of love and care
-
I heard from Carolne (our fab fosterer who is also a nurse) and dosnt mind dealing with the difficult cases, that if Ticco gets on with cats she can spend her time in her home... Caroline lost two elderly persians last year one to similar problems that Ticco has so knows what to expect.. If Ticco isnt keen on other cats then we will have to think again..
But at least we can do what we can... Our last terminal iill cat called Syndey (some of you may remember) had lymphothma and lived for 4 months in foster care... He died in his sleep...
-
Aww, I hope Ticco will get on in Carolines home - she is fab for taking in the cases like this.
-
Hope things work out for Ticco.
-
Poor Ticco - as has been said, she will be warm, well-fed and loved at Caroline's - even her dogs love cats :Luv2:
-
Lots of love to Ticco and for everyone that is involved with looking after her, hope she has a good few months left so she can gets lots of love and attention she so deserves :Luv:
-
Ticco is now with or fosterer Caroline. Nothing further was done, she is full of liquid in her tum and is with Caroline until Friday where they will decide if her quality of life is still okay, so we are playing this on a week by week basis really.
if not then the vets advise is to PTS.
Her breathing is okay and she eats abit but we dont think she has long as the fluid may start building up to such an amount it presses on her other organs... On vets advice we decided not to drain the fluid as apparently it compromises other organs and will reduce her chances of being able to breath okay for much longer..
-
Bless her
-
Lots of strokes to Ticco and Caroline is so wonderful
-
is the vet sure that it is cancer and not FIP with the fluid build up in her abdomen?
-
Sharon is out today.
Sharon & Caroline are helping another branch by collecting some cats from another area that is overloaded ;D
-
Poor wee mite. Like everyone else, I hope that little Ticco can at least and at last have some love and warmth for as long as possible. What all you rescue foster mums and dads do is wonderful.
-
I have seen Ticco she is a lovely blue (like a russian blue) cat... Her tummy is huge though.. Bloods pointed to extreme liver enzymes, so FIP is not the cause.. She is a little bit anemic as well...She is fine though, a big purr and loves cuddles.. Caroline will keep her going as long as, but at the moment see isnt in any pain...
-
is it too advanced a stage to try Destolit? just a thought.
-
Update on Ticco!
"Have just got back from Bournes with Ticco and she has discovered a new lease of life! Emma is suprised at how much she has improved. She is eating well 4 small meals a day and purrs constantly Her tummy is slightly smaller and her breathing is ok It is still only a matter of time but while her quality of life is like this she shall stay here and be spoilt I have transferred her care to AH"
-
That is brilliant news. well done Ticco.
-
Yes great news, has made me smile :) :Party 3:
-
Oh thats wonderful news ;D
-
So pleased Ticco is responding to TLC .... she was obviously feeling down and depressed which wouldn't have helped her condition but now she is feeling loved and safe again it would seem she has perked up. Great news.
Big hugs to Ticco and Caroline for taking her on
-

-
Just caught up with Ticcos story and am thrilled that she is being cared for so well at this time
-
Due to Ticco doing so well, we are taking her back to the vets this week and seeing if a steriod injection may help her abit.. Of course she has a terminal condition but we can bide her abit more time...
-
Ticco is stunning ;D
-
Aww, fingers crossed for her.
-
Caroline took Ticco to the vets again today and they have decided to drain some of the liquid off as she is doing so well.. So Ticco will hopefully be with us a long time yet!
it may be that she is strong enough and that the fluid taken from her tum make takes months to return, so we thought it was worth a try.. She has now very much fitted into Carolines home and is certaintly being given loads of love and TLC... She is a real cutie and we will do what we can for her
-
Thats wonderful and hope all goes well
-
Wonderful news
-
Excellent :Luv:
-
Its funny how different vets have different views. And although we realise that she isnt ever giong to be rehomed, it would be nice to see she has abit of time to look forward to ..
We are overjoyed at her progress and the vets though it was worth the try.... Its a shame though to realise that she is on borrowed time..
They will need to sedate her to do this so we hope she is going be okay with that...
Apparently she sits on Carolines lap with her head curled up like a little ball.
-
Aww, hope it buys her some time
-
I heard from Caroline tonight that Ticco isnt doing so well lately.. She may of had a little fit today*hyst a few sseconds) and has lost some weight. She is going to the vets tomorrow but we dont think things are getting any better, she is still on meds.
She still seems happy but obv these are first signs and it may be that we are nearing the end of her hospice care.
Lets hope we can continue for a few more days. Ticco has been with us since 13th Feb...
-
God Bless and good luck Ticco

Got a couple more pics of the gorgeous Tico today also one of Teddy :Luv2:
She is still a little purrball but Caroline said the tumour is a lot bigger so it's a matter of time - she is comfortable at the moment but a close eye is being kept on her :'(

I saw her today as well. She looks very peaceful but obviously shutting down. It's reasuring to see her dozing away almost oblivious on Caroline's sofa, compared to what she could have gone through had we not taking her in to our care. :ahh:
-
Aw bless!

That is such an important part of what you do.
:thanks: for being there for Ticco
-
Sadly i have to report that Ticco went downhill yesterday and Caroline took the decision to take her to the vets today and she was gently PTS...
We are all very sad and she was such a lovely old lady and deserved a few more years, obv had abit of pedigree in her but we kept her going since Feb 13th against all the odds. It may seem we spent money unwisely in keeping a terminally ill cat in our care, but i am sure you would of cal done the same.
RIP TICCO you will be missed by all your animal and human friends.
-
Poor Ticco. She was a lovely girl. I'm sure she enjoyed her last months being cared for by Caroline. :'(
-
RIP little one, play hard at the Bridge xxx
So sad :'(
-
Oh I am so very sorry. At least little Ticco was lovingly cared for at the end of her life. Bless you for helping her. RIP sweet Ticco you will be missed.
-
I was told by Caroline that she went very peacefully....
At the same time as being in the vets they took in a cat that had been thrown out a car!! Puss is okay but we may take this one on if one one claims ownership!
-
RIP sweet Ticco..... :( xxx
>To everyone involved!

So sorry to hear about beautiful little Ticco - as everyone has said, at least she found happiness with Caroline for the last few weeks and was loved and cared for.
-
R I P Ticco :Luv:
-
And still Caroline took another in today :Luv2:
I had to collect a cat that a lady has had for 2 months but wanted us to take him back. She claimed he had been peeing in her hallway although I couldn't smell anything. Anyway, I was supposed to take her to one of the fosterers but she wasn't answering her phone - so Caroline to the rescue. She took him in no problem :Luv2:
