Title: RIP Jet
Post by: Desley (booktigger) on January 12, 2008, 17:17:04 PM
I received an e-mail yesterday saying that one of my ex-foster cats wasn't well, and just logged on to receive an e-mail saying they had let her go. She came into our care as a stray, the person who found her thought she was pregnant, and RSPCA and CP wouldnt help, so we took her in, and she went to our other fosterer initially due to everyone else being full, but hated her dogs, so had to be put in 2 large dog cages put together, and was unhappy, so when my room became free, I took her on. She wasn't pregnant, and our vet estimated her at bout 10 years old. We had some slight issues with her here too, as she hated being cooped up in the cat room, but also hated other cats, so would constantly try and fight. She had also shown signs of wanting to be an indoor only cat as well, so I knew rehoming an older black and white cat as an only cat would be tricky, but fortunately, someone saw her on CC, and offered her a home, despite being a few hours away from me, and while I dont normally allow cats to travel those distances, with her issues, I felt it worth giving her a chance. I received an update last year to say she had been diagnosed with hyper-thyroidism, but she had seemed to be doing well until this week. I am glad that she got to spend her last 14 months happy in a wonderful loving home, with people who adored her (and gave her a nicer name!!), and gave her the home comforts she wanted and deserved. RIP little one, too young to go, and make sure you send your mummy and daddy a sign, they miss you.

Thanks Gwen - she hasn't been here for 14 months, but I am still in tears over this.
Thanks Pav, I am glad we were able to help, I know her outcome could have been so different otherwise.

Thanks everyone - they are coming to look at FElix today, they are finding the house rather too quiet without a furbabe, as Jet hated other cats so was an only one, and she was their first cat.

Thanks, they have adopted FElix, and I hope he helps that hole for them. He adores his belly rubs, and that pleased them.

They did MArk, she didn't appreciate daily pilling, so 2 injections a day would have stressed her out too much, as well as the issues with the coating of the hyper-t meds.
Thanks MP

Jet's story brought a tear to my eye.  She reminds me so much of my special bridge baby Tiny and their stories are so similar - he was black and white, came to me late in his life, suffered from hyper-T.
Having had the privilege of meeting Felix (now Garfield ) I'm sure his new slaves will love him to bits.
Well done Desley - re-homing Felix AND Marmalade in one week.  Must be lonely at yours now  :sneaky: (only kidding)

Jet's condition for us wasn't an issue, but she really didn't like her meds, she started to hide under the kitchen table at breakfast time (tablet time).

We already love Garfield to bits Carol.
Hugely different to Jet but has been wonderfully healing experiance for us.

I'm glad you met Garfield, was you rewarded with a tummy rub?

Lots of cuddles but no tummy rub I'm afraid.  Mind you, he had been to vets the day before and was still a bit wary.  My cat Korky is one of the most docile creatures in the world but try to tickle his tummy and you could lose your hand  :)

Aww, glad to hear he is helping you lots Nicola.
Carol - it is quiet at my house, i got to come home late last night, and watch a film cos there was so little to do (Rolo enjoyed sitting on me for most of hte 2 hour film!!), then having cuddles on the bed with teh girls before going to bed.
