Title: Dragan needs some positive thoughts
Post by: Maddiesmum on January 11, 2008, 13:40:46 PM
Just got back from vets where Dragan had his bloods done.  results show inflammation of the liver, elevated kidney readings and his heart murmur has worsened.  Vet thinks it might be thyroid linked so has sent off to lab for thyroid test (will get result in about a week).  Obviously if it is the thyroid then it can be medicated.  If not then he is putting him on Fortekor (which my old dog was on for years) which hopefully will help.  Poor old fella already has chronic pancreatitis and arthritis but is happy enough at the moment, eating, pottering, playing with Da Bird and giving lots of purry headbutts.  Fingers crossed.  Thanks

Not heard from the vet yet.  He said if he hadn't phoned me by Thursday to chase him up.  He is not too bad at the moment, his legs are bothering him though.  I have a bit of a dilemma with his meds.  The vet says to leave two days between steroid and Metacam.  Therefore he cannot have the Metacam for a four day period.  He just this minute had his steroid which hopefully will help with his legs and then he can start back on his Metacam on Wednesday night.  So no playing with Da Bird til Thursday!  Thanks for all the good wishes everyone.

I hate that waiting. Dont know if your vet has mentioned this, but you shoudl watch Metacam usage if there are issues with kidney and liver, and it can cause kidney issues.

Thanks Desley/.  He has discussed it and we use only half the recommended dose which does seem to help.

Hi Pav.  No results yet, rang this morning but they said they are not back.  He is ok at the mo, had a little play with Da Bird this morning and then was flinging his catnip mice round has now retired upstairs on a full tummy for an afternoon nap after hassling me to get off the computer
