When I was at the vets with Alice yesterday, Caroline who is the main fosterer, kitten weaner, etc etc came in with her elderly Persian, Winston. He was covered in tumours, had heart problems and CRF. He was ill over xmas and kept in the vets and only came out the day after boxing day. Yesterday, Caroline was taking him in because he hadn't eaten for 2 days and was wobbly on his old legs. Despite all this, he purred non-stop. He purred at me, he purred at Alice and he was giving Caroline's finger a good wash through the carrier whilst purring non-stop. I just got an email saying he was in complete kidney failure and had to be PTS. Poor Winston, he was a lovely old boy :'(

Just to add here that Caroline took on as permenate fosterers Winston and Max in Feb last year. They were well over 15yrs old and both had a few problems. We lost Max in the Summer and Winston today. In fact Winston went downhill as soon as Max left as he missed him so much.
Caroline sadly has lost 3 foster cats (1 kitten) in the last few months and 1 of her own cats as well...
Although a nurse by profession i think she needs abit of time now to get over it all...
I have already emailed her to say sorry to here about this, but i think like us we thought he probably didnt have long to be with us.. He was home for a week after Chrristmas though which was good.
RIP Winston

Caroline is a real trooper and takes in cats for you that must cause so much sadness, my heart goes out to her
I bet you wont be able to stop her taking in another very soon though.

last year my friend called me over to her house because she wanted me to confirm that it was time for her to take Lucky to the vet. He purred all the time we were stroking and talking to her and even in the taxi to the vet. God bless Winston - you can carry on purring in heaven darling.
