Title: Eating hair
Post by: lisa77 on December 21, 2007, 09:46:36 AM
Morning all

Of late while spot cleaning Leos litter tray I am finding my hair in his number 2's ?????

This has happened 3 times now & the other morning I woke up to him licking the top of my head ... (Obviosly as its long it gets caught in his tongue)

I think im going to have to start wearing a hat to bed   to stop him.. will this harm him ?

Ive never known a cat like Leo.. he does the most strange things !

 :Luv:

Are you positive he's not a burmese?

Sounds a lot like our Lirael.

Their hair passes through them so ours can as well, just careful of the furballs and if you think something is stuck then off to the vets in case.

If I ever kneel on the floor in the house, Bertie will creep up behind me, put his paws on my shoulders and then attach his teeth to the roots of my hair and snap his head back, so quickly that I can't stop him - it's AGONY.  I don't kneel on the floor anymore

grooming is a cat way of saying I love you. I suspect the biting side of it is because they find out hair feels like it is tangled. If they are grooming another cat and find a tangle they bite and pull, so they do the same to us. Smidgen usually does it when i have left it too long between washes... or if I use a herbal shampoo ..........

Perfectly normal to let your cat eat your hair - in a crazy cat lady kind of way  :evillaugh:

Here's a youtube vid of Lu doing it to me...

Firstly let me set the scene, I would like to point out that I don't normally take videos of my head.  I was laying on my front on the floor as Lukey was playing in the tent so I was trying to video it.  As soon as he saw me he came rushing out and jumped on my back, I was quite comfy so decided to stay there until he got off.  It was then that he started grooming my hair so I turned the phone round at pointed it at my head!

Here's his solo youtube debut...
