Title: Happy Adoption Day Anniversary Blip

Today is the eighth anniversay of Blip's Adoption Day  :Luv:

In 1999, a little tabby cat in a sorry state arrived in our garden.  We knew nothing whatsoever about cats, neither of us having had one, but we obviously could not turn TabbyFur, as we called her, away and she moved into our garden and thence our home.  Sadly, she was only with us for a few short weeks when, despite the best veterinary care, she had a heart attack and died.  We were heartbroken.

TabbyFur left us a legacy though: we both very quickly realised that a cat-shaped void had arrived in the centre of our lives.  We agonised over what to do as we felt we had let TabbyFur down so badly but after a few weeks we went to the bookshop and bought two books on cat care.  The next day, I rang CP.

I told them that we did not care about age, sex or colour, nor state of health (provided a novice could provide the necessary care) but that as we had failed to save TabbyFur, we wanted to help the neediest one.  This turned out to be Blip, six months in a rescue from her first birthday simply because she is black and white.  She has been our loyal, loving companion from the moment she arrived.

The boys decided that this was such a momentus occasion that they simply could not let it pass without a mini party being thrown in your honour  :)

I bet TabbyFur has smiled down on you everyday since your adoption Blip. Many years ago when I was looking for a rescue dog I went to the kennels and simply asked for the one who had been there the longest that no one else wanted; Winnie turned out to be the love of my life and also got me involved in Rescue. I guess what I`m trying to say Blip is that to be chosen unseen is the highest possible honour and I know you deserve it.  :hug:

Yes, the little one, once chosen unseen, is cuddling on OHs lap, having tucked into a meal of tuna, pilchards and mackeral.  She is enjoying carols which, I am certain, she believes are the music to celebrate her arrival in her very own home all those years ago.

Blip is the most unconditionally loving being I have ever met.  Her love for us is an honour.  The fact that she trusts me absolutely is certainly the greatest compliment I have ever been paid.

She's a lucky girl to have fallen on her paws with you! And I am certain that Tabbyfur is looking down on Blip today too.  :Luv2:

Happy Adoption Day Blip, you are a very lucky cat. And you didn't let TabbyFur down C, you gave her a home, and even though you couldnt save her, she went knowing love, and that is the most important thing, not how long they have with us.
