Well when I say rush, it took two hours to trap her!
She had been mooching about yesterday but I didnt think too much about it but when I saw her try to move from her hiding place today , she could hardly walk and was limping so bad. She went out to use the garden and she had probs getting up. So I rang my vet about 1100 and they closed at 1200 and they wouldnt wait for me to catch her and get there cos its nearly an hours drive depending on traffic.
They said that I would have to go to you know who at PDSA!
I told them there was no way I was going there and they said well they didnt know what to advise and I said apart from change vets!
She went away to talk to someone and then told me of the other Cp vets in Swansea, cos my vet is the other one. So I rang the new vet and they are oncall 24/7 and said that they would see me and the vet nurse would look at Sasa and then if it was a bite deal with it and they would not charge me emergency rates unless they had to call a vet out.
They also said as she was semi feral, to catch her and then ring them and say when I would be there phewwwwwwww, sensible vets ;D
Two hours later Sasa was in the cage and crying and we were on the road. Most unusely for Sasa she buried under the blankets and was quiet all the way, says Sasa not feeling well at all.
The vet was great and said that there is a sorta unwritten law between the vets that one doesnt poach from the other out of hours as Richard my vet pays.............yes PAYS for Vets Now....................however as they told me to come there he was happy.
Sasa was still hidden in cage and not Sasalike at all and I got her out of cage and he had a male vet nurse who had gauntletsto hold her and every thing was fine till he tried to examine Sasa back legs and lift her up, cos she was sorta frozen with fear and then attacked and cried out. He got bit!
But seemed there was a problem with back legs or pelvis cos she was in pain, so he sedated her so he could xray her but she jumped off table before we could get her back in her cage! then she was trying tohide between the table leg and wall but in situations llike this I can blooming stroke her.........sigh. I asked them to get cage on floor and then under the threat of more stroking she rushed into the safety of the cage.
The xrays were clear, joints are perfect but he looked at her legs again while she was sedated and he found what he thinks was an injury from another cat, so she has been given metacam and convenia antibiotic injection and we are home again, relief cept........................I got cage into house and she had beenn jumping uo and down and nudging the metal clip that holds the door closed and when I went to go to shut up back of house so she couldnt get out......................was knocked over by one large tortie madam rushing past thro the flap and down the garden, over fence and into field grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
Even woozy she is fast than me grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
So am hoping she will come in soon cos I tried to creep down garden to get infront of her but she too quick for me!
Hopefully she should be back to normal in a couple of days and i wasnt charged emergency rates and the first claim is going into AXA! More of that on the M&S insurance thread.
-
Phew! Gill, what a day! Poor Sasa (poor vet who got bitten :evillaugh: ) Glad the x-rays were clear, hope she re-appears soon!
-
She was back in the kitchen but I scared her cos she hates me at the moment.
When she heard me coming back she rushed out again grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
-
Oh boy... where is Dr. Dolittle when you need him? Well glad you found a decent doc in the end and poor Sasa was taken care of!
Well at least sounds like she is feeling much better and lively already zooming about in and out, try to keep her out of mischief and hope everything will be fine now! ;D
-
Goodness, Gill, it never rains but it pours. Hope Sasa recovers quickly. Take it easy yourself
-
Glad the xrays were clear. Can you tell Sasa that I am blowing her a get well kiss.
-
I will Lottie although it may have to be from two rooms away .............sigh
-
Gee Gill what a day you've had, here have a cuppa on me :tea:
Hope Sasa will be better soon
-
thanks she is back in the kitchen and would love a coffee but if i go in there she will be back thro the flap before i can say sasa .
i can see her watching........sigh
-
Gill so so sorry to hear about poor Sasa and you.
-
What an awful day it has been for you, fingers crossed she seems better soon.
-
Gill - sending hugs to you and Miss Sasa. Paddy sends gentle soothing type purrs to Sasa he says.
-
Blimey - what a day! I'm glad she seems better and that you found a decent vet. Hope you manage to keep her in for a while!
-
Gill. Just saw this. So sorry to hear of poor Sasa. She must be so frightened. Is there any way you can go round the house to other side of the kitchen door and sort of spook her into going further into the house so you can get into kitchen and shut catflap. Or perhaps block catflap from outside with something? I know that the others will want to go out but if she's not well I'm sure they won't be too inconvenienced for a bit. Poor you too  What a horrible day. Obviously hope our lovely lady gets well soon. Is the Convenia jab the long lasting anti biotic?
-
thanks she is back in the kitchen and would love a coffee but if i go in there she will be back thro the flap before i can say sasa .
i can see her watching........sigh
I know the feeling coming to the end of Marys eye drops but wonder how long i will stay public enemy No 1 shes avoiding me like the plague which means i have to get her from her safety spots as not even the temptation of prawns is working now
-
Poor Sasa, hope she feels better soon
-
thanks all and from sasa ;D
its always bad when you have to get them from their safe places blue, i know sadly.
sasa aint moving from the kitchen and have just got a coffee, she feels safe there cos she has ythe flap to escape throgh but its freezing in there, north wind grrrrrrrr.
if i was to shut the flap off like i was going to , it would make things worse cos she would think i am trying to trap her again and then run away stsying outsede so i think we have the best of all at moment, cos she is staying in cos she wants to. but she is not hungry so must till be feeling very under the weather, poor sasa.
-
I know its hard but dont over fuss her or anything just try to act as normal as you can....that way the vets will slip out of her mind....I do hope poor Sasa picks up soon :ahh:
-
Tickles to Sasa :Luv:
-
Crikey Gill what a day! Hope Sasa is feeling better soon. Try not to worry too much about her, give her some space (one of mine always takes ages to forgive me after a vets visit!) and she'll be less skittish soon
x
-
 Poor Sasa, hope you are better soon
Gill it never rains but it pours, keep strong
-
Aww poor Sasa, maybe you should keep her in till she's feeling and looking better? The bully could still be out there.
(Gill waiting behind the wall with a broom :shify: )
Hey maybe she caught her leg in the mouse trap??
-
Oh Gillyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy, poor Sasa! :( Hope the lass feels better soon.
No need to lock the cat flap - just plunk a washing up bowl full of water in front of it. Most cats don't like traipsing through that in order to get out. ;)
-
Thank you everyone , Sasa feeling a bit down tonight but am sure all the meds will kick in and also she is scared from todays experience but it will take time to get her cool back ;D
-
poor sasa gill :(
hope the gorgeous babe feels a bit better tomorrow
-
Glad you managed to get her to the vets Gill, it's a nightmare when you have a poorly feral on your hands, I don't know whats more stressful  The meds shouldn't take too long to kick in, Sooty was feeling very sorry for himself when I took him to the vets last night and was moulting like mad when I got there, a sure sign of stress but today he seems back to his old self, still limping a bit but feeling a whole lot better. Hopefully she'll feel better tomorrow and will soon realise her vet visit was for the best
-
Give Sasa a healing head kiss from the boys (Maybe you could blow her one!). Hope the meds start to kick in soon
-
I will blow her one, thanks ;D
Yes you right dawn and this vet says he thinks covenia kicks in a bit slower than say oral tabs but he didnt think I would want to get tabs into her..........so right cos it would be impossible
She has also been given metacam to help with the pain but just have this feeling that she is not using the tray, as it were, cos she is going in and out like a yoyo, probably the sedation. She may just be checking to make sure the cat flap works tho!
I think we are all upset tonight cos its been a horrible day but I am so pleased to meet that vet and know they run a 24/7 emergency service, that was a real find and probabaly will take Sasa there for the future cos they were so sensible about me catching her and then saying to ring them.
Although my other vet does that, I then have to fight with reception when I ring which is useless.
-
Now Sasa be a good girl for your meomy and stay in please , just for tonight ;)
Hope she feels better tomorrow.
-
Sorry, i meant today. ;D
-
Aw Poor you, Gill, and poor Sasa
At least with her popping in and out you know she is staying close to the house, and she is gaining confidence that you're not going to cart her off again so hopefully, by now, you have both had a good night's sleep.
Hope Sasa recovers soon, and well done for standing your ground with the vet!
-
Hows Sasa doing today Gill? Ging,Grwndi and Rameses send her furry headbutts
-
Hi GILL, did Sasa stayed in last night? Is she feeling better today?
-
I think she was in most of the night but stayed in the kitchen which is freezing cold even with the heating on, as it was all night.
She is still out side at the moment all though every where is frozen and if even look at her from 10 metres she is gone, she hates me at present inspite of steam tractor Purrs when I was stroking her yesterday while she was trapped in a corner.
She loves being stroked but is too scared to let it happen normally and all the work to get her to play round my feet has gone and it will takes months to a year for us to get back to that point..........sigh.
I hope she is feeling better but am a bit worried about her tail end but thats also where the injury was, at top of back of one leg. It seems even Sasa didnt run awqay quick enough that time!
I wish she would stay in the house cos neighbour not taken their car out yet, but she is just too nervous and scared and has to keep trying the cat flap to make sure she can still get out.
What a worry these cats can be ...........sigh
-
Im having a thought here!......yeah I know "shocking" lol!
What about going round the back of the house and blocking the flap off from the other side? Thats if you can get round via another door ;)
-
Hi Gill
Hope Sasa is settling a bit more today, Max sends her a purrp and a kiss from us both, blow it gently in her direction please :blow kiss:
:grouphug: for you and the rest of the gang
-
Ruth, I think Gill scared of completely freaking Madam Sasa out. I suggested that earlier in thread but I think Sasa is a bit of a one off when it comes to having outdoor access (a bit like Gandolf RIP who would throw himself at the window if he realised the flap was shut so not really a one off then ;))
Gill, all I can say is  and hope the little Madam starts to chill out a bit too much in the garden and your cold kitchen and decides to find a bit of warmth soon. Has she eaten anything?
-
No Ruth , blocking the flap off is not a good idea cos Sasa needs to know she can get outside. She is not an indoor cat and eventually she would get out and run away and hide and thats not a good idea at this time of the year.
When she does that then there also it is also no good lookingh for her cos she will go further if you call her or she sees you getting close and CPs advise when she ran away for a week was to not call her, dont look for her because she will come back when she is ready and she did, but it took a week.
She is such a scared cat and has lived with ferals so can hunt and survive outside.
I dont like it when she punishes me by running away, even if its only for 24hrs.
Started typing this about an hour ago LOL cos been on phone but Sasa is in the front room watching the door.......she is just so scared :(
-
Poor Sasa and poor you Gill  I hope she is feeling better soon and she doesn't take as long this time to forgive you. Dylan and Hobbes send very gentle virtual head butts and quiet purrs to you both. :Luv:
-
Its good to know that Sasa is on the mend even if she is keeping you on your toes Gill ;D
-
Just catching up with this.
Gill I hope Sasa realises that the fact she is home is a good thing. Sometimes the repetitive motion of coming home all the time makes them feel a little more secure. Just give her time, but more importantly don't rush things for yourself. She's there, and so long she knows she can escape to her own little world she'll be fine.
I hope she gets on the mend soon
-
Thank you ;D
She has decided its warmer in the front room but is guarding the door. I have decided to leave her on her own until she decides she wants to play again or something.
The main thing is she is in the warm and I know where she is, its bitterly cold out side.
-
sorry just caught up with this, so sorry for poor sasa but glad she was seen by vet and treated am sure your TLC is as important as any thing and she's so lucky to have you as her mum hope all gets better abd better
-
Aw poor Sasa, hope she feels better and less scared very soon
-
She doesnt seem too good tonight and is having probs walking again, also eating I think cos she cant get down to food, note to self must raise her dishes...........I think where ever it is sore is getting stiff and she has been lying on her side which is not Sasa at all.
I wonder if she has a muscle pull that maybe making it worse.
I am hoping that the antibiotics are kicking in and maybe she will feel a bit better tomorrow,
She is still in front room guarding the door but at least she is still in the warm.
-
Hope she feels muc better tomorrow, sending a virtual healing headkiss her way
-
Gill, do hope that Sasa is soon feeilng better - pleased to hear that she is indoors in the warm and hopefully will soon forgive you !
-
Thank you ;D
-
Gill,
I have only just seen this but wanted to say that I hope Sasa is feeling a little better tonight and has managed to eat a little.
Thinking of both.
Claire xx
-
poor Sasa, hope she is a bit better this morning Gill
-
how are things? How is Sasa and how are you? Hope things are better today. Thinking of you. Keep warm.
-
Gill,
only just saw this. What a nightmare. Poor Sasa and poor you. I hope the meds are helping quickly and that Sasa is getting better soon.
Chris
-
Sasa update...................today she seems to have improved thank goodness so maybe the antibiotics have kicked in.
Cheeky madam came in here to ask where her food was a while back, so thats a sign she is feeling better ;D
She now has two fat blankets to lie on by the door so she can watch in comfort
The next stage will be, does she forgive me enough to stop running away at the sight of me moving :evillaugh: :evillaugh:
-
I'm glad madam is feeling better! ;D
-
Aw bless her :Luv:
-
Its great Sasa is feeling better,
I think she forgives you sooner than you expect. ;)
-
Glad she's feeling better ;D
They like to punish us more than necessary :evillaugh:
-
Pav and Mark you are both right and a few minutes ago she was back in her hiding place behind me, so she is getting bolder again which is great ;D
-
They like to punish us more than necessary
They're cats - that's their job....
-
Glad she has come round quicker this time Gill.
-
Pleased to hear Sasa is feeling better and has decided to forgive you a bit sooner this time :Luv2:
-
So very pleased fior you both Gill.
-
She had some treats from my hand tonight but still wont play. She is coming to tell me she wants me and things so thats great.
Maybe she is as fed up with the cold as I am!
-
