Our vets had been looking after a very elderly black puss, who was found collapsed on the village green on Monday.
The RSPCA got involved in so far that they agreed to give him a log number and treatment, but we didnt sign them over to him.
Rudy, was a lovely fella, very old and fragile. He was thin, mankie and unkept, having probably never having a nice home.. He was given treatment for a bad paw.. He proved to be positive for FIV, and on further investigation lumps that to the vet was diagnosed with bone cancer in his leg, as he couldnt put his food down. He has dodgy kidneys and thyroid..
The vet who we use alot (who treated Jesiri) thought it was just too much for him and due to his age and the cancer it was decided with a heavy heart that it was kinder for him to be PTS. He was given TLC, lots of fuss and warmth for the last few days but that dosnt help..
Oldies just get disregarded and its a shame that some humans left them down.
Rudy deserves a mention here and i hope he is feeling better now.
I wish we could of done more.
RIP Rudy

RIP Little Rudy, no more pain for you. :'(

I am so sorry to read this, I hate reading of oldies that have to go like this, I wish I could give them all a home. RIP little one, at least you were given somewhere warm and allowed to go peacefully with dignity. Sharon - you did all you could for him.

I do get very involved in these cases becasue i feel so bad not being able to help... Poor mite.. it was with a heavy heart that we realised that we were just doing it for ourselves...............
All i can think is that "we" managed to save Fergus who is going to his new home on Sunday...
But another name in my Rainbow Bridge, book, we have had a few things year.......................
I never even saw Rudy but he had a name so i felt i did...

RIP old fella, at least someone cared about you at the end.

I should imagine you do get involved, but you did do something to help, you enabled him to get vetinary treatment, and given a chance to see what was wrong with him rather than pts without that chance, and you let him go with dignity and somewhere warm, with people who care - they aren't all that lucky.

I would really appreciate it if one of the Mods could put Rudy on the Rainbow bridge listing on Purrs just so he dosnt get forgotten..
Thanks alot..
