When Leo went for his pre nuter appointment I mentioned to the vet that just one of his ears gets dirty & the other ones is fine. He checked him over & said both ears were fine.. BUT why does one get dirty & the other one stay clean ? Its not like he goes out & rolls around in mud or anything (& my flat is Very clean !!!)
I know you can get ear wipes but I know that cats ears are very sensitive so scared to clean incase I hurt him ?
anyone any ideas ?

When I took him in for the second round of his vaccination some weeks ago he suggested that Ollie has some build up inside his ears and prescribed us a cleaning spray (called clorexderm but I think it is an Italian product). I guess they get certain wax build up just like we humans do. We did this spray routine every other day for 3 weeks. He surely didn't like it and it took both of us for the operation(one holding him still and one holding up his ear at the right angle and shoot), but you may want to ask about something similar.
Edited to add: I found this on the net, I reckon mine was something similar to this

One ear is probably just producing more wax than the other, or something. I get wax build up in my right ear but my left is usually fine! Jaffa has a bit of dirt in his ears (just the outer part). I got some stuff from vetuk to clean them with. I forget what it's called but I'll have a look when I get home.

Unless its a real problem i wouldnt worry about cleaning it out, wax is a good natural substance ;D
Maybe he washes more with one paw :evillaugh:
A really important point is NEVER USE COTTON BUDS IN A CATS EARS!!

Now just imagine someone spraying stuff in your ear,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,you would surely bite em, poor cat.

If you feel it necessary to clean the ear try spraying the lotion on a babywipe before applying it inside the ear ;)

Thanks everyone xx

You sure he's not just forgetting to clean that ear?
Lirael gets distracted sometimes (well, all the time) and forgets to clean one eye or ear depending on what she's doing.
