I have just had a call from my Mum to say they have had to call the vet out to put Lucy asleep as she was having difficulty breathing. :'(
Since she was diagnosed with throat cancer back in September she has been having regular steriod jabs and she had been doing OK but it had finally got to the point where it wasn't fair to keep her going any longer so Mum and Dad made the decision to let her go.
As you can imagine Mum and Dad are distraught as they have had Lucy and her twin Chloe for 14 years.
Lucy is being buried at the bottom of the garden with her piece of pink string (this was her special toy that she has played with and carried round for the past 10 years ... Mum regularly found it in the food bowl and would take it out and give it a wash).

Aw Sam, I'm really sorry to hear this, but I'm sure she's had a great life with your mum and dad, and they have let her go the kindest way.

:RIP: Lucy
If it should be I grow frail and weak,
And pain prevents my peaceful sleep,
Then you must do what must be done,
When this last battle can't be won.
You will be sad, I understand.
Selfishness might stay your hand.
But on this day, more than the rest,
Your love and friendship take the test.
We've had so many happy years ,
That what's to come can hold no fears.
You'd not want me to suffer.
So, When the time comes, please let me go
Take me where my needs they'll tend.
Only stay with me until the end.
Hold me firm and speak to me.
Until my eyes no longer see.
I know, in time, you, too, will see,
It is a kindness that you do for me.
Although my tail it's last has waved,
From pain and suffering I've been saved.

Poem For Cats
Author Unknown
And God asked the feline spirit
Are you ready to come home?
Oh, yes, quite so, replied the precious soul
And, as a cat, you know I am most able
To decide anything for myself.
Are you coming then? asked God.
Soon, replied the whiskered angel
But I must come slowly
For my human friends are troubled
For you see, they need me, quite certainly.
But don't they understand? asked God
That you'll never leave them?
That your souls are intertwined. For all eternity?
That nothing is created or destroyed?
It just is....forever and ever and ever.
Eventually they will understand,
Replied the glorious cat
For I will whisper into their hearts
That I am always with them
I just am....forever and ever and ever.
I hope Chloe is coping OK. :care:
