Title: Catpod - anyone seen these?
Post by: Mark on November 29, 2007, 21:38:13 PM
Saw this today as I am looking for something for Kylie as she loves spending time in the garden. She shelters under bushes etc but it would be nice for her to have a shelter for when it's raining. I have seen all kinds of things. I know these look like storage containers with a hole cut out but still curious.http://www.jasonspriggs.f2s.com/catpod/index.htm

Great idea! I love the catpod 3 - looks really cute! :Luv: I'm not sure you couldn't cobble one together yourself, tho. :)

For £50 you can get a nice wooden dog kennel that will last and not look all plasticcy.

The Zooplus kennels are well made, solid and mega easy to put together. The wood is nice quality, not rough sawn similar to what garden centres sell.

Andddddddddd purrs gets 5% commision  :evillaugh:

I think thats exactly what the first one is   Just has a cat flap put in, didnt look at the cost though and could be edactly what Claire Hirsh needs with her scared limpy stray.

I just got an email back. He sounds like a really nice person. He produced them as a prototype for a pet company who wanted to make them but he hasn't heard from them for 6 months. He said funnily enough, he donated the last 2 to St. Helens CP branch this morning  ;D - He said they are easy enough to make with a storage box but he is speaking to a local plastics company about producing them. They will be sold for £10 - £20  ;D

I have been looking at the kennel type ones, the Mr Snugs one and the trendy-looking ones - just need to make my mind up. it's just for Kylie when it's raining but not cold as she likes to survey her territory.

I have one of the Katkabins - quite expensive but very well made, very weather proof and loved by my kitties who go out.

I might get one of those Leslie. Is it worth getting the liner and/or the duvet?.
I can't imagine Kylie spending loads of time in it but there are plenty of mild days when she has to stay in because it's raining and I think she would love it.

I was looking online and these seem to be the cheapest @ £58.75 with free delivery - works out cheaper than any of the ebay sellers.

I got the liner, but not the duvet.  I just put one of their blankets in and then regularly change it.  Mine did have the cat flap on, but they broke that one day   but it doesn;t deter them from using it and I think some of them use it more now without the flap.

There is always a cat in it.

Hiya,

This looks really retro 60's chic, a designer catpod.

I utilised a fairly new rabbit hutch into a cat shelter. I removed the wire mesh front and put a piece of wood covering two thirds of the gap to make it more enclosed. There's a cushion in there and a food bowl for when my oldest tom feels at his most anti-social in the summer!

LOL Puddypaws :)

I found it here bluecat :

http://www.ticknthistle.com/outdoor_cat_shelter/cat_houses.htm (http://www.ticknthistle.com/outdoor_cat_shelter/cat_houses.htm)

Or... you can move to Surrey where you can buy a bungalow of equivalent size for about £250,000 in need of some repair  ;D

Ollie says thet are very nice, but his personal preference would be for a Sheraton design please and he would like to share it with Leo  ;D

Then the "Duplex" model is the one for you  ;D

Quote from the website :

"Originally designed for a big 20 lb. stray tom cat named Bubs, the interior space and door size are large enough for big cats, but small enough to keep out all but the smallest dogs. Bubs especially likes the windows, which let in the sunlight, keep out the weather, and allow him to keep an eye on things! In nice weather, he spends many hours on top of the house, snoozing on the flat roof.
All wood construction allows the house to breathe, and the optional insulation package keeps your kitty warm and cozy.
A fleece blanket adds to your cat's comfort, and is included with all our cat houses."

Cheers

Yes it is a shame Mark and they are very hefty as well so carriage would be pretty costly if one could track one down.
