Title: M&S/AXA renewal-my stupid mistake
Post by: Rosella moggy on November 29, 2007, 10:15:38 AM
Just sorting out finances for 1st time in a couple of months and realised that, unless you cancel M&S policy, they automatically renew. I changed Freddie over to Axa on 25 Sep but M&S took monthly premiums of £8.66 in Oct and Nov. I rang M&S who said I should photocopy all documentation for both policies and send to Axa and they may be able to sort something out. I then rang Axa who said a cheque to refund me the 2 lots of £8.66 would be with me in 7 to 10 days.  Not bad service I thought seeing it was my mistake.

Interesting thing though is the automatic renewal for anyone who thinks they may have forgotten to renew their policy.

Good news, well done.  It was probably easy for them to sort out as AXA underwrite the M&S policy anyway, so  they could sort it out fairly easily.

Well i didnt know they could do that unless its a direct debit.

When I cancelled my M&S and moved to AXA, I also cancelled the direct debits with the bank.

M&S said they would confirm the cancellations in writing, but noooooooooooooooo they didnt but wrote to me to say that they had been told by my bank that I had cancelled the direct debits and wanted to know if it was an error.............................go think M&S or is that dream!

I didn't cancel the Direct debit .  It was completely my fault but heartening that Axa did the decent thing without quibbling.  Hope they do likewise in the event I have to claim.  They may of course have sized up how many policies I've got with them and thought they'd be nice ;)

TBH I got in such a muddle changing over Thomas, then Freddie, now Billy..... or was it Billy then Freddie?     I've cancelled both Billy and Freddie's direct debits to M&S now of course.

Blame my age. I do!

Today's post brought a cheque to cover the two lots of £8.66...... from M&S

You never know, I may get another one from Axa?   :shify:
