Tabby Cat Portrait

Well, this entry to the blog has been a long time coming - I know, I know, its been a bit of a year to say the least! My mum, who is 87 has been in hospital for 3 months since falling and breaking her hip. Her recovery has been long and slow, but hopefully she will continue to improve now she is home.

Consequently, I've not had much time to blog, what with hospital visits plus trying to keep on top of my other work (cat grooming/cat sitting and wedding bouquet pressing) - not to mention the many pet portrait commissions!

The portrait above was a commission and is Leigh's lovely tabby cat Suzie who sadly passed away. I was lucky to be able to work from an excellent photo of Suzie (it always helps to have good photos). It was painted in soft and hard pastels on velvet velour paper.

Latest Work - Golden Retriever

This is another of my recent paintings - been busy getting commissions finished before Christmas. I loved the pose of this dog - he looked happy in the photo, and it was a brilliant photo to work from (always helps!). Again this is painted in soft and hard pastels on velour paper.

Recently Completed Work - Part 2

This is the second of a pair of portraits for the same customer. A study in tones rather than colour. Leo and Bella, two beautiful Siamese cats.

Recently Completed Work

Its been quite busy lately, and as I combine painting pet portraits with working as a cat groomer and cat-sitter I have been a bit slow in updating my blog! This is a recently completed portrait, of Leo the Siamese, in a typical Siamese pose. This is painted with soft and hard pastels on my favourite velour paper, and is one of a pair of portraits for the same customer.

A New Website for my Pet Portraits

All change again! I decided to try a new type of website for my pet portaits and thought a blog was a nice idea because you can get to see 'whats new', 'works in progress' etc. Customers will be able to see previews of their portraits and I hope to include lots of interesting 'stuff' for everyone! New content will be added shortly, this is by way of a quick introduction and just a little taster of one of my very first pet portrait commissions, Helen's beautiful and much missed Tiggy.
