Cat did not give birth to puppies, says boffin
The mystery over the cat that apparently gave birth to puppies has been solved.
Cassia Aparecida de Souza, 18, from a poor neighbourhood of Passo Fundo in southern Brazil, said that her cat Mimi had given birth to the three puppies.
Blood tests have however refuted the claim, geneticist Adil Pacheco said.
"People who aren't experts often imagine things,'' said Mr Pacheco, director of the Institute of Biological Sciences of the University of Passo Fundo. "All the facts contradict her.''
Mr Pacheco said mammals sometimes nursed the young from another species.
De Souza said that Mimi also gave birth to three kittens which did not survive.
There was a picture of Mimi suckling the puppies, but I can't get it to attach, sorry!

:) Well DUH. I hope the poor cat and baby dogs are being well cared for now that they've lost their 'celebrity status', though...
