Archie seems much better today and is not in his litter tray every two minutes.

The vet gave him an injection of metacam, but I have some at home from a previous emergency so will give him some if he is in distress

poor archie, metacam is really good and helps with the inflammation caused by stress, TC suffers with the same thing so i know how worrying it is.

Hope archie is soon feeling better :-)

I have cut out Archies dry food and presume it will be best to give him a wet diet from now on

Cystaid might help, it helped my foster who had stress related cystitis. HAving him on mainly wet food also helped.

I will try to find the paper for you, i found it very interesting when taz first started having trouble as i had always thought it was down to infection and he was given alot of ABs which did nothing

(other than make him a hypochondriac, he loves taking pills and liquids so much he will beg for them

)

Dont assume shes chipped cos shes a ped

alot of breeders dont bother

Only 3% of cystitis is caused by bacteria, if the bengal is too much for him to handle he will have regular bouts of trouble until she has gone

You could try feliway plug in to help him feel better

She does need to be rehomed, poor thing.

I was worried yesterday morning as he started peeing blood again so phoned the vet. He said he thought it was the end of the infection but keep an eye on him.

Thankfully he seems back to normal this morning, which is such a relief

Sounds very much like cystitis which is what Hunny gets after a stressful situation wth another cat. She strains to go to the loo so much that she ends up bleeding. Metacam helps. Other than that there's not much we can do but try to deter cats away from our garden. Easier said than done!

Will have a word with the lady across the road who has two cats but they are very timid.

I think I have mentioned before that Posh was on of two and the other got run over in the last few months. Was talking to some cat owners who live near Posh and they said the other bengal used to scare their three.
