Maybe the cold weather is increasing his appetite. In his mind he may need reserves incase he finds himself on the streets again. Old habits die hard  :(

How often do you feed him? An extra meal might put his mind at rest

He is feed whenever he wants it  :evillaugh:  (too many times to be honest)
I can stroke him while eating but he still growls and gulps it down...and if another cat comes near he comes mad

Well hopefully it will stop as quickly as it started

Could just be having your OH underfoot over the holidays - unaccustomed extended exposure to male company does that to me at times - I start snarling (but not over my food)

I have had to remove all Sharp knifes as the temptation is too much at the moment

not much unfortunately - if he was a dog you could train him out of it, but a cat ...

Feed him separately from the others, so that he gets relaxed again about eating. Possibly your cats are going through one of those periods that seem to come in any multi-cat household, where one or other of them tries it on to climb the household pecking order. When that happens everyone's fur gets fluffed and starts becoming at bit unpleasant. If that is the problem it will pass, but if not, I don't know what to suggest... Sorry hun - I am sure that one of the newer members said she was training as a behaviourist, and am also very sure that unseeliechilde mentioned she is a behaviourist - maybe they could suggest some options if you were to PM them??

how old is he? have you changed his food recently to something he really likes?

He turned up a year ago as a stray, Took me 6mths to "win him round". He now is a loving lap cat !!
He has always eat alot, I have put that down to being a stray and always wondering where his next meal was coming from. But over the last week he has started to get really Aggressive, He doesnt have ago at me but any other cat that comes near him will get it !! Even if there isnt another cat around he growls...and a really nasty growl.
What can i do to stop him ??

I personally have never come across this problem before and dont really know what to do about it.

Tramp has started to growl when he eats his dinner - He gets really angry with anyone else who comes near him and will lash out at them . He wolfs it down like its going out of fashion, growling all the time.

Why has he started doing this and how shall i stop it ??
