I should have learned from the fact that I also hated having lodgers. Not sure what I will do next. I would hate to go back to printing as it's long hours, aggressive bigoted people on the whole and not very satisfying - but I also hated doing B&B - washed up at 45

- really don't know what I will do

I would love to turn it into a rescue but not fair on OH (financially) and the other cats

So pleased to hear she is settling in Mark. I should think you are relieved to be closing the B & B, it's not something I could do - I' ve had lodgers before and hated having "strangers" in my house.

She's great thanks Dawn

- she had another tummy bout but the vet said there is no point bringing her in unless she seems poorly. She struggled out of my arms this morning and landed on a thick carpet with thick underlay but was limping for a while. As she is a bit awkward positioning herself when she lies down, we think she may have a bit of arthritis (also beginning to think she is quite old) so I have ordered some seraquin as one of the volunteers who is a VN swears by it. Will see how she goes on it. She wasn't badly hurt as she sniffed around the dining room and flew up the stairs and had some food

We have decided 100% to close the B&B so will be opening the whole house up to the cats for them to find their own spaces

Not quite boredom. Had a kitchen painter in all day and a plumber knocking a hole in a stud wall trying to find a slow leak that has trashed my hall carpet, the ceiling below and rotted the wood under the shower - there is actually a mushroom growing out of the grout

On top of this, trying to see to Alice and also making sure all the others are OK.

Heh, when we first got Smoke (she was called Megan at the rescue but never answered to it and honestly... megan?), I sang Smoke on the Water to her constantly. After nearly a year she finally answers to her name (and unfortunately the song!).

OH & me discussed names but Dennis said it would seem odd giving her a different name as she is "Alice" and it would seem odd calling her something else. (OH has funny ideas and gets annoyed when I call willow Lucy which was her name when she lived in France - he said it will confuse her if I call her by her old name

Anyway, she is really perky now and finished her 2nd pouch. I left her having a good wash under the bed

She still won't go in her new bed but keeps going for a sniff - probably the feliway

I guess you are talking about my post on Catchat. She is really perky this morning and eating well so I am going to keep a close eye on her (and her bodily functions) and will take her if she seems ill again. She has made a complete turnaround since last night so hoping it was just a furball and I was overreacting. She gets so upset going to the vet that the stress will be harmful. They are open 24 hours so I will keep a close eye. As long as she sn't suffering, I think she s better off with me than in a small cage at the vets.

My cat taffy had lymphoma in his intestines, his bloods were clear and the vet couldnt feel anything under sedation. The xrays showed a tiny growth but it was enough to make him poorly

Amazing as some cats and people can carry tumours around that weigh half their bodyweight

I was just hoping that as with some human meds, you can mix 2 types without causing harm. I won't do anything that could harm her - I just want her better. She doesn't just flop down on her side like other cats, she has to do it in stages

Fingers crossed the vets feeling is wrong - but bloods dont always show cancer, although you would think X rays would. If the vet says to wait before re-worming, I would, as it might be too harsh on her system otherwise, and cause more problems.

It took her about 2 minutes to forgive me for taking her to the vet

And she was a good girl and only cried a couple of times. Previously, she cried all the time pooed once and peed another time but was fine this time

She has been playing like a lunatic with her new toy tonight - a 99p fishing rod type thing with a furry ball on the end from Wilkinsons

. I wish they didn't have bells as she is trying to crunch it

Poor little Alice, as long as she eats and doesnt get sick is good, but some times the blood tests and X-rays dont show every thing.

I hope she feels better soon, she is such a beautifull girl.

I guess you can probably give too much wormer but would have expected an xray to show a tumour? I would go with the vets advice.

She is revelling in the extra attention. I'm still trying to do my receipts for the accountant but keep going to check on her. She curled up and went to sleep on me this afternoon after the stresses of this morning

- I thought well she's going nowhere so I had a nap too!

I just wish we could find out sooner. Is it not possible to give her a drontal? - I hate the idea that she has to wait until saturday to have another wormer.

When I wormed her the Saturday before last, her stomach seemed to go down quite a bit but has since got bigger. I mentioned it to the vet as I thought she might need another dose (and hoped it was nothing more sinister

) The vet had a feel and said her stomach is quite hard and if it was worms it would be squishy. She went and spoke to the senior vet. He said that they were concerned before but nothing showed up in either the x-rays or the bloods but his gut feeling is a stomach tumour

- As her appetite is normal etc. They have suggested worming her next Saturday and again 2 weeks after that in case the infestation was too severe to shift. They said an exploratory is major and they don't want to put her though it unless absolutely neccessary. We are worried as she has been regularly wormed in the 3 months she has been in care. Have discussed it with Sharon and Caroline and we all agree to go with the vet's advice if 3 or 4 weeks wouldn't make any difference to a tumour growth. Although I pick her up gently, she does squeal a bit if her tummy gets squashed. It's so hard to know what to do for the best.

Her face is healing nicely

So, I will watch her like a hawk and get her straight back if there is anything untoward. Luckily the vet is open 24/7
