Ducha has been to the vets this afternoon cos he was realy not himself and he had a hich temperature but no visable wounds or pain.
The vet thinks he has tangled with the alien cat we have around and has a blood infection.
He had an antibiotic jab around 1545 but his ears are still hot so still has temperature but he has now eaten and drunk.
How long does it take for a temp to go down usually. He has to go back for another injection on Monday so they long acting but not convenia.
I was told I can take him back tomorrow or Sunday if I am worried, but thats only tomorrow morning or one hour on Sunday morning.

if he's eating and drinking he must be feeling a bit better.
In reality see how he is in the morning and decide then - though its easy for me to say!

His ears felt cooler earlier on but they hot again but its the first food he has had prob since yesterday. He kept going to the food and not eating.
I am hoping he will drink cos the water is near him and he doesnt have to come downstairs but am worried about his temperature cos I can almost feel him glowing.

I would keep an eye on him Gill, the temp tends to go down after a few hours and like Angie said if he's eating and drinking, that's a good sign. If there's no improvement tomorrow, I would probably get him back in again just to be on the safe side. If he's been in a scuffle, he may have some bruising somewhere so will be feeling out of sorts with that as well. Hope he's feeling better soon :hug: :hug:
Just read your other post, it may be worth trying to syringe some water down him to keep his fluids up and if his temp is raging, it might be worth phoning the emergency vet and asking for advice.

It will have taken a little while for the antibiotic shot to get into his system and work.Hopefully by this morning it should have kicked in and started to make him feel better.
If he is eating and not drinking can you mush some water into his food to get it in that way?

Thanks everyone, Duchas temperature has gone down during the night, he may have a small one but nothing like it was.
He felt cool enough to sleep on the bed last night and this morning cool enough to want to cuddle against me ;D
He has eaten all his food and drunk during the night so I think the antibiotics have kicked in and any remaining infection will be zapped again on Monday.
I am so relieved, thanks for all your thoughts :hug:

He has even popped downstairs once but I think he is still underthe weather but much improved. He is eating and drinking but I am going to see if the vet can try, or Richard if he is back, to look in his mouth cos there is no sign that he has tangled with the alien.
His ears still feel cool tonight which is great and thanks Dawn for advice, I was quite worried last night cos he felt so hot.
Another jab on Monday should see this infection zapped I hope ;D

Tabitha had a bug earlier in the week & didnt eat for 2 days, she had a steroid and AB jabs and is back to normal now.
Its now Lolas turn as she didnt eat any brekkie today :tired:

Infection must still be there cos I woke up this morning and he was lying on the floor again and ears warm, but only a bit. Cant wait for tomorrow to come and we are back to the vets for another jab.
He has noshed all the jelly from a pouch and gone back on the bed,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,stupid me , he must have got too warm lying against me !!
Seriously though, he did spend all night on bed sleeping against various parts of my head but temperature must still be around and think he got too warm when the heating came on. His body is cool and will check again in a minute and hope his ears may have cooled down again.

We are just back from the vets and Duchas ears were a bit warm but temperature is only 0.1 up now ;D ;D
Just found out he was given antibiotic and anti-inflamatory on Friday to bring the temperature down and he has had antibiotic jab today which should zapp anytthing else left lurking. The vet is very pleased and me too, and Ducha will be happy not to go on any more day trips for a while ;D.
He ummmmm wet his carrier on the way there and I thought the car was a bit high and he started whining a lot. So blanket all bagged up for me by Will the vet ;D
£49.09 and hoping I do not need see a vet again till the annual MOTs in the summer.
