Oooh Tan, you are naughty, what a tease! I will be even teasier though and say that this year Cat Chat's "Cool Cats Stuff" Christmas Raffle will be back... (Yay!)... but that's not the exciting news! I can't say what it is yet, nearly but not quite.. I will post back soon as I can, honest! Just have a 2010 calendar ready (a Purrs one will be ideal).
Have a lovely weekend

OK OK!!! Here it is - Party Hats at the ready... (I had to post this for the folks, as they don't have a posting account, what are they like!!!), it's cost them two prawns though...
Hello to all you Party-loving Purrs People!
We at Cat Chat are in the early stages of planning something rather special for next year, and we would love it if some Purrs People could join us...
Next year – June 2010 – will be Cat Chat’s TENTH anniversary! So we are going to throw a PARTY! Fancy joining us?
It will be an evening of good food, great company, live music and some extra surprises on the night. This will be held in London, at a central location, on a Saturday night in June 2010 (venue and exact date yet to be announced). The venue we choose will have disabled access, vegetarians will be catered for... and it will be fun! We will need to charge a small ticket fee to cover the catering costs, but we will keep this as low as we can.
The human members of Cat Chat will be there of course, and we are inviting all the wonderful friends and supporters of Cat Chat, all the party-loving ‘peeps’ from the CC forum and Purrs forum, as well as our fab volunteers, the heroes from the rescue centres, plus others too numerous to mention, anyone in fact who has supported us over the years and helped make Cat Chat what it is. Well you've met in cyberspace of course... so what better excuse to finally get together!
WANT TO JOIN US??? HERE’S WHAT WE NEED YOU TO DO....
(1) Please email us at: party2010@catchat.org ONLY if you are fairly certain you will want to come...
(2) and, let us know how many tickets you are likely to want.
There is no commitment whatsoever at this stage, we just need to get a good idea of numbers of guests, as this will allow us to get the right size venue. So if you are pretty certain you will come, let us know how many tickets you are likely to want by Emailing: party2010@catchat.org
Also, if anyone is able to help us in any way with this event, whether that be with regard to the venue, catering, or in any way at all, please say, all help appreciated!
Are we excited..? YOU BET!!!!
Best wishes
Mandy & Steve (founders) and all the 'Party Animals' at Cat Chat!
xxxx
Thanks Gemini, much appreciated that you let us use your posting account.. what's that... another two prawns for using your photo? (Honestly, and Tom Cox thinks he's under the paw!)

CC towers need an idea of the number who would actually go so they know what size venue to get.
So who thinks they can go?
Me going and i am dragging Steve and staying overnight in London somewhere under the arches!! :evillaugh:
-
:sneaky: I'll most likely be there. Sent a reply to the folks at cc towers last night. Getting my spot firmly sealed!
-
Oooh how exciting!!
-
;D Yep me and my Steve are hoping to go, replied to folks at CC towers last night - we'll be staying as it's way to far to come home.
There's alot of Steve's being dragged along :evillaugh:

-
OMG how much fun will that be!! I shall book my spot pronto! :wow:
-
Ooooh! exciting. I'm not too far from London so I'm up for it as long as its not on car show wkend! Will probably stay over so OH and I can have some drinkies!
-
Same here! I shall be bringing a Ray for some variety! :evillaugh:
-
I wonder if us "up North" lot could get something sorted re transport as London is approx a 600 mile round trip for us! :scared:
-
I shall be there in spirit! I shall also relive it vicariously through the huge amount of pictures you will be taking for me and Blackcat ;)
-
Decided I need something to focus on and look forward to other than cleaning litter trays, so have booked some places; if its any help we have a 7 seater car so can help with transport, but we will be having an overnight stay and I want to check out Buck Palace too
-
What for the overnight staY???? :evillaugh: :evillaugh:
-
I cant make it to London but it sounds like a great 'do' already.

-
Oh my one benefit from being SE way is that London isnt tht far!! But i think staying overnight would be great... Any body who finds some great deals pls let me know!!

What for the overnight staY???? :evillaugh: :evillaugh:
Oh come on - shes hardly likely to be slumming it to that extent :naughty:

Depending on the actual date in June, I'm defo up for this ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
Oh my one benefit from being SE way is that London isnt tht far!! But i think staying overnight would be great... Any body who finds some great deals pls let me know!!
Still 75 Miles or so?
Travelodge Islington (Kings Cross really) normally has some cheap deals. I am London-phobic so unlikely to go.
-
I LOOOOOOOOOOOOVE London and am usually up for any excuse to go but have no idea what I'm doing that far in advance
-
I was born and lived there for 42 years :evillaugh:
I suppose I wouldn't mind it as a tourist - or maybe scared that I will want to stay? :shify:
I like the West End and the touristy things but find anything beyond that the worst all all worlds.
-
I still love it but definately wouldn't want to live there again
-
Ahhh, I love all the touristy things. I could never, ever live there. I honestly don't know how people manage it (I'm a country girl at heart, love cities to visit but would never/could never live in or near one). I go to London a number of times every year and have never had even the slightest the urge to live there.
It's a shame really as it contains my most favourite place on Earth .. The Natural History Museum :Luv:
-
I used to go there every saturday as a teenager - sad but true, it was a place to meet boys!
-
I worked in the City (Liverpool Street) right up until 7/7, my company then moved us outside of London and to this day I have no idea how I managed to do one end of the met line to the other end everyday for some many years. I dont mind London for the occasional evening out but I do like escaping back to the country.
-
When I started work, I lived in Dagenham and the fares were really expensive on my meagre salary so I used to get the bus to & from Oxford Circus every Day. I had to get a bus by 7am to get in for 9am and usually got home at 7.30pm - I can understand why OH gives me so much grief about commuting to London every day now :-[
-
I was born and lived there for 42 years :evillaugh:
Gosh...I did'nt relise it was only 8yrs ago you moved from London! :naughty:

I can't believe it's 5 years in October - where has it gone. That rotten B&B stole my life!

I can't believe it's 5 years in October - where has it gone. That rotten B&B stole my life!
I never did hear what happened to your B&B :shify:
I used to go there every saturday as a teenager - sad but true, it was a place to meet boys!
I would never in a million years have thought it was a good place for meeting boys. How unusual .. but clever!
-
one of my friends had a boyfriend who would only meet her there! now I'm 39 I realise that something wasn't quite right but at 15 didn't!
-
I can't believe it's 5 years in October - where has it gone. That rotten B&B stole my life!
I never did hear what happened to your B&B :shify:
I hated doing it but suffered it as OH had put so much into it financially etc. When I finally confessed how much I hated doing it, OH said I should stop as the amount of money it made compared to the grief and inconvenience wasn't worth it. It was when we had closed over xmas to put the new kitchen in so basically, I just didn't open again :evillaugh:
-
I don't know if we'd go to be honest.
I hate London, travelling into Islington every day takes its toll and I hate it.
-
I'm not actually sure what it involves - does anyone else??
-
I don't know if we'd go to be honest.
I hate London, travelling into Islington every day takes its toll and I hate it.
That's the other thing. Last weekend, a friend of OH wanted us to go to to an exhibition in London as she had passes but OH said 5 times a week is more than enough as it is.
-
I still love it but definately wouldn't want to live there again
Ergo why I am leaving it. Still love it but don't really want to live here anymore, so busy and congested.
However, wherever I may be I shall be going I think.
-
never been to london before :scared:
gonna try and make it tho, and meet some lovely like minded folks ;)
think we'll have to fly tho :evillaugh:
-
I've never been to scotland Stuart!
Ruth - where are you going???????????
-
Aw Stu you'll enjoy it as a tourist.
Have to admit, I'd fly too. I drove that once from London to Stirling. I travelled the day after the clocks changed and was meeting the lady from our B&B at 9pm. I was so panicked as I was still a good hour away from Stirling at 9pm. Got there, real apologetic and so freaked out that we'd kept her waiting and she said we were right on time. I was flumoxed for the whole night. I was sure I'd arranged for 9pm and thought I was losing my marbles. My then OH was confused as well. He never wore a watch. Wasn't til breakfast when I apologised (again) for being a bit late and the landlady asked me if breakfast at 7:30 in London was considered late.. :evillaugh: We swore a) we'd fly next time, clearly the 14 hour drive addled our brains and b) we'd use the radio to tell us the right time! :evillaugh:
-
I've never been to scotland Stuart!
Ruth - where are you going???????????
Your way, Bucks.
-
I do love it here, and you can be in London in 1/2 if the mood takes you
-
Yep! Takes me 45 mins door to door from my place in North London to my sisters in Beaconsfield. I love that!
Takes me an hour to get to work and I only live 7 miles from work in town...
-
I was at sainsburys in beaconsfield at lunchtime!
-
:Luv: I love Beaconsfield. We're going house hunting on Saturday, I want to have a look at Winchmore Hill and Naphill and see if I like the lay of the land. Have to sell mine first.
Gosh, I hope we don't wait to meet considering this, until the CatChat event?! that would be maaaadness!!! ;)
-
I think an ox and bucks event at the crown in penn would be lovely!
-
Have to say the idea of living in London has never appealed to me either, its sooo busy, traffic everywhere, think it would drive me round the bend.
At least in Woking its a 27 minute train journey to Waterloo, so really easy to get to as and when you want to visit :wow:
-
I think an ox and bucks event at the crown in penn would be lovely!
Their Sunday lunch is DEVINE!!!
Its only about a mile from my sisters, The Crown.
-
At least in Woking its a 27 minute train journey to Waterloo, so really easy to get to as and when you want to visit :wow:
1.20 to 1.30 from here depending on the number of stops. I have to say that I do more here than I ever did in London - partly due to being able to drive to places. It wasn't practical to have a car in London and I wasn't comfortable being out at night in certain areas - such as where I lived :evillaugh: - I still haven't got used to the novelty of being able to be in various seaside towns in under 1/2 hour or walk around the corner to the beach. I love Canterbury and never get tired of it. We also have decent shops there so no hardship. If there is ever a show I want to see (unlikely as I hate musicals :evillaugh: ) I know I can jump on the train.
When I saw the Catchat announcement, I guessed what it would be but realised it was unlikely to be in Ramsgate (1/2 hour max in the car) where they are based. :evillaugh:
-
Has anyone had an email back form Catchat??
I am up for an Oxon and Bucks meetup! :wow:
-
Not yet, Kirst.
I think we may have to do that this summer. Whilst weather is still good (well we can hope!)
-
I think an ox and bucks event at the crown in penn would be lovely!
Oh yes I would be up for that, I could crawl home !
-

Cheers! Will do!

Hello!!!
Well, the party2010 mailbox is filling up nicely, looks like it's going to be the Event of the Year! Just so that everyone knows, we won't be replying to all the emails just yet, at this stage as we are still mailing out to find out guest numbers, so we'll give it a couple of weeks and then have a count up, and see how big this thing is going to be, and then start deciding on a venue!
It's great that so many people are coming from away and staying over, the folks will be staying up in London too I gather (I really must make them get their own posting account!), so the after-party-party should be fun too!
Does anyone here work for a hotel chain?? We were thinking we might ask if one of the hotels would do us some special charity room rates!!
Keep those emails coming!!! (but only if you are fairly sure you want to come) to here: party2010@catchat.org
A note to Mark in Canterbury... yes, you're right, we couldn't really have it in Ramsgate, but we will be drawing the 2009 Christmas Raffle in Ramsgate, so you are more than welcome to come along to that if you like, and help us draw the winners!?!? Oh go on, you know you want to!

This is very exciting and I'm certainly going to go and will stay overnight. It will be great to meet up with loads of Purrs peeps. I'm going from the North East but will be doing the journey by train as it's only 3 hours and if I book early enough I can get resonably cheap tickets. Am too excited now (you can tell I don't get out much can't you   )

I dont mind going on the train....but I am afraid to be let lose on my own! I will probably end up in Scotland! :-: :evillaugh:

CAT CHAT PARTY NEWS - DATE & VENUE now CONFIRMED!!!
We can now announce the date and venue for the Cat Chat 10th Anniversary Party in 2010... be there or be ummmm, not there!
The finer details are still to be arranged, but here's what we know so far...
Event Date:
Saturday 22nd May 2010
Party Venue:
The Botanist at Kew,
3 - 5 Kew Green, Richmond, Surrey, TW9 3AA
http://www.thebotanistkew.com
Facilities:
The Botanist is fully wheelchair friendly. Vegetarians will be fully catered for.
Ticket Price (not on sale yet!)
Likely to be £17.50 (definitely under £20 though)
Other points of Interest:
1. The Botanist is right next to Kew Gardens, so if you are making a weekend of it, that could be very convenient!
2. Also, interested party guests will be have the opportunity of a tour of Kitten to Cat Veterinary Clinic, also close to the venue in Kew (one of only a handful of cat-only vets in the country). Two of the vets there are voluntary advisers to Cat Chat, and they are very kindly offering any interested guests to have a tour of the clinic, on the afternoon of the party, (more details of that to follow).
Christine (blip) is helping to co-ordinate the event (thanks Christine!) and she is happy to answer any questions by PM, or here on Purrs or via the party2010 email address. (We don't know much more at the moment than what's here though!).
If you didn't email the party2010 mailbox before and you think you'd like to go, then you can still register your interest there (party2010@catchat.org), but don't worry if you are not sure yet or if you forget, as we'll post back here when the tickets go on sale.
The Cat Chat Party will be the hottest ticket in town in 2010... trust me, I'm a tabby!

I love Kew but cant plan that far ahead as do not know if I will be moving or how well the cats will be or anything to be honest :(
-
Oh - and slightly off topic, a message for Mark in Canterbury... if you have nothing better to do on Thursday evening (1st Oct), the folks said see you at the Cricketers... opposite Subways... whatever that means! (I do believe it may be a public house, and that our human of the male variety will be making an utter fool of himself on his drum kit that evening - I despair, I really do).
Right! That's it! I am delivering no more messages until one or other of our folks get their own posting account! OK, I feel better now.

South side whichever way you're facing, Dawn :evillaugh:

-
I can't do points of the compass!! :evillaugh:
OK, if Kew Green has the bridge at the top, Kew Gardens' side wall on the left hand side and the main road on the right hand side, The Botanist is at the bottom (nearest to Richmond).
-
aaah I was trying to place it around the green by the greyhound or ask
-
aaah I was trying to place it around the green by the greyhound or ask
Is the Greyhound the pub up near Kew Bridge? If so, it's on the opposite side of the green.
To put it another way, it's on the bottom right hand corner if you're standing on Kew Green facing Kew Bridge.
-
is there anywhere to park?
-
Okay i am best pleased i have booked my room and am taking a friend up as she has always wanted to go to kew.. ! A room 49.00 including a breakfast a bargain at the Kew Garden Hotel but its small you need to book up quick..!!
-
there is a travel or premier inn over the bridge as well
-
is there anywhere to park?
Yes, you can park free all round the green. Also anyone staying at the Coach and Horses (another little hotel on Kew Green) or the Kew Bridge Travelodge can park there.

Parking very close say within 50yards will be very important to some, do you think this can be achieved Christine or will you please give me a piggy back

Anyone going down that way from the Yorkshire area?
Trains are way expensive!

There are spaces right opposite and the pub has a loading bay outside the front door which can be used as a drop-off point.

I think it's a great idea to arrange lifts together (on this thread?).

Thanks for the invite but Thursday night is a no no for me as I have 2 long days at college Thursday & Friday so with the travelling to & from Hadlow etc doesn't leave me a lot of time. (I'm in Whitstable so it would mean another 15 mile round trip into Canterbury)
Thanks anyway and hopefully the next time :)
