hi i'm lyndsay and am currently without a cat, i stumbled across this website when looking to find someone who would understand how devastated i am at having to have our beautiful cat barney put to sleep on the 14-12-12. he was two years old and we got him when we found out that having more then one child was not an option so he was our second baby. he was my dd (whos 3) best friend and they loved each other so much, barney tolerated me and dh he adored pippa and would put up with anything from her, even though most of the time she was so good with him. he has left a huge cat shaped hole in our family and could never be replaced but in january we will be going back to the rescue to look for another cat. I'll be looking for lots of advice over the next few weeks, so hope you dont mind lots of questions

Aw treasure. Our hearts go out to you. Most of us know how that cat sized hole feels, only too well. When you're ready, and when the next cat comes, we'll be ready to support you, and answer the questions we can.
Barney may not be here with you right now, but he'll never be gone - you'll always hold him in your heart, and that means he wont ever be fogotten.

:welcome: Lyndsay, sorry it's at such an upsetting time for you  Pleased to hear that you have the room in your heart to adopt another cat, a legacy of love from Barney

Ah how well I know what that cat shaped hole feels like....
BIG
Although you can't ever replace your Barney, when the time is right another four legged friend will come & leave paw track on your heart...... also your car, carpet, sofa, curtains & chairs.
I found this poem online when my friend lost her beloved rabbit, I hope it helps -
