Title: URGENT PLEA FOR FIV PUSS AT THE VETS. Canterbury CP, Kent
Post by: Canterbury_cats (Sharon) on April 15, 2008, 10:34:17 AM
The vets have rung me. They have a black 3yr old puss that has been a stray for a while. He has just been caught today and has tested pos for FIV.. We have no room, and also have another friendly FIV puss in our care.. Not sure if this one would get on, he is hissy and spity but not a feral....

At  the moment we have no foster pens free, or indeed anyone to spend time with him to settle him down.. We are due to loose two fosterers inthe next week or so due to hols and need to move cats from them as it is, we also have 2 cats due to come in...

Can anyone help?
We are in Canterbury, Kent the cat is at one of our vets?

Transport will be an issue for us as would rely on volunteers to help us

I thought of Bredhurst but they cannot take FIV that are abit temperamental at the moment...

He seems fine health wise... but needs time to bring him along.

Unfortunately our only remit is to PTS  (which we are not doing) or board him at the vets until we have room which may be for weeks!

Have you tried Foal Farm Sharon?

Otherwise, we can take him in my car to NCC?

I don't mind phoning them if you haven't - I am in the middle of spring cleaning my alley and front garden so won't be back on for a while - I have found dead baby pigeons and even one with a red tag round it's leg

I have taken my landline phone outside if you need to call.

Foal is about the same distance as HQ but not so easy to find. As we have a space at HQ then i think we should stick with them at the moment... They were my second choice though...

Is there anyone who can perhaps met us half way or perhaps lives local to that area, to save on fuel costs for everyone...?

Just checked and Foal Farm is 60 miles, NCC 81 miles - I agree that if there is space it makes sense to go there - unless Foal have a space?

I'm in Brighton and could meet someone half way and bring him back to Haywards Heath. It's not that far from Brighton. But it would have to Saturday or Sunday as I am working away tomorrow and Friday. Is that any help?

Hello all
We kind of a plan of action although it would be better if we had someone who would be able to help out midway . At the moment i am talking to uckfield CP who "may" be able to help us out, but they are doing us a huge favour and i want to thank them so much, as even for their volunteers its abit of a trek.. Sadly it has to be this Friday.. as the vets are not keen to keep him in a cage any longer then that.. and i concur.. So if anyone is around say midday Tonbridge way, Paddock wood, Edenbridge (or whatever) it would really help, as this would releave the pressure from Uckfield who sounds as though they have alot on their plate anyhow....

Its been abit of a military operation to sort this out... as not many Purrs members are South based... but if anyone can help we would and so would Thomas be very appreciated as you could help get him on his way to a loving home in time.

I will be off line for a few hours now as need to do work, but will be back in PM later on.. Any help would be much appreciated for this little one.

Sharon

The plan is I am collecting Sharon and then we will collect Thomas form the vet at the other side of Canterbury. A lady from another branch has offered to meet us in Tunbridge Wells or thereabouts and do the rest of the journey. So this cat will be safe. It is a struggle to do though.

A BIG THANK YOU for uckfield branch kate for helping us in this successful rescue this morning. With luck we may of given Thomas a start to a happy life.. He was certaintly handable and could be stroked and Mark even managed to get him out the basket without too much bother..

Its really nice when CP (and other rescues) work together to the same aim..

Thanks all

Meet Thomas

He is a lovely boy. The vet described him as hissy and difficult to handle. He was fine with me and I even managed to get a soft purr  :Luv2:

We were concerned about him being rehomable but given how he was today, he only needs a bit of work and he will be a lovely companion. Kate has someone in mind for him who lives in a rural location  :Luv2:

Sorry pics aren't great but I could only photograph through the cage wires without flash.

He was only neutered a few days ago so a bit pongy
