Title: Blood transfusions in cats
Post by: Liz on November 12, 2011, 15:42:11 PM
As it says in the title anyone any experience with this

Our darling Diva feral is not well at the moment and is anaemic and we are just looking in to things whilst waiting for the results from Glasgow vet school as her numbers are very low

We also know that cats have different blood groups and the age of the donors etc we are lucky having a lot of young big fellas here at the Clan and all have been tested in the last year and are free of everything so have the boys at the ready if it comes to the event

The boys just don't know what they are being lined up for

sorry to hear that Diva is not well.      Sadly have no experience of this.      Hope its nothing serious Liz.     However our two lovely vets are climbing Mount Kilamanjaro next year for charity.      One is doing it for petbloodbank.

She has had everything done that can be done so far and we are waiting on one more result as I said we are just looking at ways to give her a boost and we have young healthy boy cats and Lottie has said we can try Star to as a matching donor to see if that helps if not then we are running out of options for our darling girl :(

Oh bless ... I'm sure there are plenty of donors available even if one of your gang isn't a match.  Sending lots of get well soon vibes for her.

Do they know what has caused the anaemia?  This link tells you all about the different types of feline anaemia http://www.cat-health-guide.org/feline-anemia.html
