maybe they didnt want to giv it out to just anyone then i dunno

But that is the idea of the yellow vouchers they are for anyone and nowadays people do not need to be on benefits to have a voucher.

The  advice for vouchers all branches received:-

Neutering is the only effective way we have of restricting the number of unplanned kittens being born - becoming the unwanted cats of tomorrow. While it is always a better use of our limited resources to neuter a single female than to foster, feed, treat, care and find good homes for its offspring, please use your experience and judgment when issuing these vouchers.

1.    These Yellow (variable value) Vouchers are to be used in place of cash or the Branch veterinary account for most of our neutering work.

2.    Please always use them to cover the full agreed cost of neutering all the cats which pass through CP Branch and Foster care.

3.    Issue them for kittens that are re-homed before being neutered and for adult cats that are homed intact for any reason.

4.    Use them when assisting with feral colonies and multi-cat dwellings (in these cases two vouchers can be used for the whole group; simply enter the number of male and female cats involved and the total cost in the value box). If your Branch does not have the funds to cover the cost of these group neutering situations, then prior to committing to help, please call the Campaigns Department for advice and approval of spend (we have a limited central budget to assist with this work).

3.    Yellow Vouchers should also be used for Branch neutering campaigns where you wish to fund more than the standard Pink and Blue Voucher values. Please do not print your own.

6.    These Yellow Vouchers should also now be used by Branches which in the past subsidised or topped-up Pink and Blue Vouchers, or paid for operations on privately-owned cats directly via the Branch veterinary account or locally produced vouchers.

7.      Eligibility. Yellow Vouchers may be issued to anyone in genuine need of our financial assistance, this includes students, anyone in receipt of means-tested benefits and those reliant on pensions or low wages. However, if, in your opinion, the cat would not be neutered if we did not help, then please do issue a voucher. They may also be used to assist other reputable feline welfare groups (should the need arise). Our only priority is to reduce the population of unplanned, unwanted and abandoned cats in the UK.
There is of course the normal Blue neuter vouchers value  £20 and the Pink spay vouchers value £26.

I have never asked anyone for proof of benefits as I am only interested in getting cats 'done'

which i can sort of understand because didnt u have to show proof of being on bennifets in the past when u applyed for a voucher ?i remember about 2 years ago when i applyed for the white voucher i had to send off a bank statement to show them i was recieving bennifet ,
personally i think u should stll have to show proofs if not someone in a fulltime job with a big house and flash car could just claim a vocher for the sake of it and that aint fair on a charity .

Ela:how come ur cats protection is so much better then the one we have here ?

Cos I am in charge. No really I think if you are going to do a job paid or not there is no point in doing it unless you do it well.

and u know how many times i had to ring them about that yellow voucher and none of them could help me half of them had never even heard of the yellow voucher
it was only throu ur kindness that myself and my mum got the vouchers .

They must have known about the yellow voucher as they would have been given the same information as me at the same time..

Good on you Ela.
Dawn - who knows what makes people change their mind - and 2 is young with some of the ones that come into rescue. At least they have a good home to go to.

how come u have to pay if the finder is going to c if she can keep them

We don't have to but I like to meet people who take on such cats half way if they are kind enough to take such cats in. After all  it would cost us a whole lot more if we had to bring them in.

So sad  :'(

It upsets me that people would do that - I know we hear the horror stories so much, but after two years - what changed?

:sad no:

Let us know how they get on

box mean cat carrier ??

In this case box means box (as we know it)

Actually the finder is now seeing if she can keep the cats, on Monday we are paying for them to go to the vets for an MOT, flea and worm treatment and one to be de-matted.

this is sad but you know what gets me...

If two adult cats were placed in a box (presumably cardboard) then by the time someone found them they would surely have panicked so much they'd have got the box open (unless it was sealed with gaffa tape or something)

or does box mean cat carrier ??

I can't believe they put them in a box when they can easily get out and what would happen to them then  :censored:  My friend who also runs a rescue has had this happen to her numerous times only to find the box empty when she's got to it........when will people learn that cats can get out of boxes easily.  I'm so glad these babes are safe now and hopefully they will find a loving home, xxxx

Sadly Gill, possibly not desperate - not everyone thinks as much of their cats as we do on here. At least they were put in a box and somewhere they could be found, most people just dump them.

That is so sad, just think of all our cats that we love so much and suddenly putting them in a box with their bowls and leaving them.................breaks my heart  :'( :'(

I am sure someone must have been desperate to do that.

I have just received a phone call, someone has just found 2 cats in a box with their bowls and  a note saying they are 2 yrs old.  I expect at least their owners did care a bit, but why put them in a box and not phone a rescue. Oh! I know they would need to go on a waiting list and now they will jump that list and others will need to be on longer.
